Freeview don't pick up channel 5, so I can't watch it when I'm at home mad.gif (Got to love CSI!!!)

Are you in halls, cause most have a common room that might get it? Where are you at uni?

Our uni doesn't have common rooms. I'm in halls again this year. I'm currently at the University of Luton.

I really need to teach my family how to use the VCR cause they seem to always ask me to tape stuff for them but of course when I need it I'm not at home. sad.gif

My friend emailed channel 5 a couple of days ago and got an email back today saying:

Thank you for your recent e-mail regarding NHL Ice Hockey.

Unfortunately, we will not be screening coverage of the forthcoming
season.

Following last season's lock-out the NHL organisation have recently
changed the way that they sell the rights in Europe, moving away from
selling to individual territories to a single European partner. This
regrettably means that we have been unable to acquire the rights to
screen the sport on terrestrial television in the UK.

It is a disappointing situation for us but unfortunately the matter is
out of our hands.

Thank you for your interest in Five.

Yours sincerely

Eh? blink.gif What the heck is going on. blink.gif They are supposed to be showing a game next wednesday. dry.gif Maybe you should post that on THF Joanne. There is a thread in the main forum where people are chatting about what game they think we're getting.

I'm confused hmm.gif

But, we do have this:

Elite League Hockey

However, I cannot justify, or afford, paying for NASN for this and however many NHL games they show per week.

However, I am hoping this will give British hockey a little bit of a boost.

Sorry MKL but I'm not interested in the Elite league (cans, worms everywhere noexpression.gif )

It looks like Channel Five have let us down, there isn't a game on this week and aren't planning on showing any this season. sad.gif

I don't really know anything about it either. I don't understand the cans, worms reference, though.

It's a shame that ice hockey just doesn't get the coverage here it deserves. It is a wonderul sport. When I moved to America, I had never watched it before, but it didn't take me long to get hooked (no pun intended).

The cans, worms, everywhere was a reference to the old saying of "opening a can of worms" for a situation that when discussed could get out of control(wriggling worms jumping out of the can) and cause a bit of bother. The way I typed it was the way a character in Friends had mentioned the expression. I used the expression because I don't really want to get into a discussion about the EIHL as I may rant and take this thread off topic. Anyhoo I won't be wasting any money on that dvd. Ignore my comment, it's not important.

The Channel 5 thing is a pile of poo crazy.gif Craig is now thinking about getting NASN which I'm not too sure about. I'm all for having hockey but I'm not sure about the money issue (since we're saving up) and we live in a rented flat so we'll have to check that out with the landlord. So that's something that my other half is going to check out.

Bah, I hate this. I just got my self a box of tapes for the season too. I've got no chance of getting NASN. Anyone who gets it want to tape me a few games?

Can of Worms. Of course - duh on me.

Th channel 5 thing really is a shame. However, I do have a friend in California that said they would send me as many Duck games as they could on DVD. I am hoping they follow through on that.

I got a friend who has NASN, I have asked her to tape the Oct. 30th game aganist Phoenix. Thats the first Ducks game they are showing. Hopefully she will record it on DVD so I will see what I can do with sending some copies to people. smile.gif
