I think this is stupid. Don't introduce them on opening day if you didn't go through camp with them, especially if they are that different from the regular jerseys

I also don't like the fact that they don't match the team's colors. Crap idea

that is so stupid ... i like a lot of the changes that have been put into place right now, lets not go overboard ... let all the fans get used to the other changes first, then throw something new at them next year

The arrival of the sweaters Friday morning was met with mixed reaction.

Some franchises reacted quite positively, recognizing the marketing potentional in creating a "goalie sweater" taking a page from the huge success of soccer. However, there's been plenty of negative reaction as well.

A number of general managers argue that there has already been so much change to the game that this would be too much, too soon, not to mention the fact that goalies will have little or not time to get used to playing in the new sweater.

"It may be too late to introduce the new steamlined sweater in time for this season," an NHL official told TSN.

"But rest assured, it is coming."

They were wearing the regular jerseys during the game though. I have no problem with the jerseys being more form fitting, but a different color/style is dumb. I thought the goalies were already wearing smaller sizes anyway? They sure looked tighter to me. And the gloves are just tiny!

I don't think the jerseys look that bad. I can see why people will complain (there is nothing the NHL has done that people haven't complained about even those who wanted the game changed...). I wouldn't mind buying one to wear. I can see the logic in why the NHL would do it though.

An attempt to have all goalies wear form-fitting sweaters, which would stop some goalies from wearing over-sized sweaters to help them stop pucks, has been shelved for now because the sweaters didn't arrive in time to allow players to get used to them, said Campbell.
