Do the Sharks have the MOJO to make it 3 in a row?
Can we hope for continued Avalanche meltdown?
I hope so!!! biggrin.gif

I guess it's better for the division rival to win than Paul Kariya.

Yes, at least for now! I'd like to see the Sharks do well against the Avs. So far, so good. But once/after they get the job done, I won't be rooting for them anymore... well except maybe if they face the Red Wings in the next round. If they can go all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals, fine, as long as the winner comes from the Eastern Conference team. I may sound selfish, but the Sharks are still one of our top divisional rivals. I don't want them to have bragging rights. Plus I have this huge wish that the Ducks would be the first CA team to win the Stanley Cup.

Bragging rights and egos aside... getting deeper in the playoffs generates revenue, which turns into team improvements. Which is a major no-no.

 with both of you, especially with Ducks91Rule's reasons for not rooting for the Sharks after this round (provided they eliminate the Crapalanche).

All I will say is that I'm going to continue to root for the Sharks to put the big hurt (translation - win the series) on Colorado. biggrin.gif

If they do that and move on to the next round it will depend on who they match up against.
But first things first. wink.gif

A recap - http://nhl.com/onthefly/scoreboard/recaps/...43_3_recap.html

Also
QUOTE
Evgeni Nabokov's stinginess has the San Jose Sharks one win away from their first trip to the conference finals. Nabokov stopped 33 shots for his second shutout of the playoffs and Vincent Damphousse banked in a shot off Colorado goalie David Aebischer midway through the third period, helping the Sharks beat the Avalanche 1-0 Monday night and take a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

San Jose fought off Colorado's early rush, stuck to its puck-control offense and continued to ride Nabokov's playoff-long hot streak to set up a possible sweep Wednesday in Denver.

Nabokov? Stingy? Naah. biggrin.gif

Great win by the Sharks! Even though they were out shot, they managed to get the win. Nabby was fantastic; he is just so focused right now. Nabby tops Abby!

Okay Sharkies, one more win and you've earned your way to the WCF!!!!

Go Sharks!

Quick question??

Why is the media saying Nabokov could be this year's Giguere? I am SICK to death of everyone having to even talk about him. Sorry, love ya, let's move on. Um, didn't Nabby win the rookie of the year a couple of years ago? Um, hasn't Nabby been a good goalie for a few seasons, barring last year coming off of a higher salary demand? Oh gee, WE got that too in Giguere. Will ALL goalies forever be measured by Giguere? What has he done exactly? I feel sorry for him, the pressure the simple minded media thrusts upon him. He was FAB in the playoffs last year. Every year some goalie does something wonderful and the media blathers on. Let's let THESE guys be their own. Nabokov is Nabokov, he doesn't even play the same style of hockey, nor wear the er ehem larger pads that Giguere wears. I just would like our goaltender to be the Ducks goaltender, not the measuring stick. I think you must do more than have one good playoff run to be the beat all, end all. Now beofre someone reads this and thinks I'm insulting Jiggy, I'm not. It's the media I refer to. I love Jiggy. Have followed him since the Cincy days....

Go Sharks, one more game, go!!!

biggrin.gif Francaise, Baltic knows all too well my "love affair" with the media half-wits.....
I had a several month go around with one real jack ass in Florida who just had to take parting shots at Ozie. Well, we got to know each other real well and I would say in the end I won that one.
Most recently I've coresponded with Woody Paige of Colorado......that one is still up for grabs...... I swear, I have yet to see one writer that is not a moron of the greatest kind. They see what they want to see and please don't confuse them with the facts. wacko.gif

Okay Veca, I won't pay any attention to the media buffoons. Yes, Woody Paige sometimes is a little off, to say kindly. he has wry wit, and it is sometimes put to good use, but alas, more times than not....Well, you can fill in the blank....

Woody Paige needs to take off the homer-colored Avalanche glasses. I cannot believe the drivel he wrote about the "abuse" Foppa is getting in this series. Something about Foppa being "San hosed." rolleyes.gif I think PF is one of the best players and game breakers in the NHL, and when he's on his game I love to watch him, but puhleeeze. Anyone with a modicum of objectivity knows that Foppa does occasionally, let's say, overembellish and will dog a ref if he doesn't get the call. And sometimes he lets his temper get the best of him and dishes out some pretty questionable hits of his own. dry.gif

I think Paige needs to read his colleague's (Terry Frei) column to get a realilty check:

"Whining about officiating, whether in the stands or the dressing room or even in the press box, is unseemly when it involves a franchise that as an elite team has gotten its share of the breaks during the years, and also has avoided excuses in the past - even while it dishes out physical punishment to opposing stars."

"That whining is almost as grating as the relentlessly bush-league, leave-nothing-to-spontaneity cheerleading scoreboard messages and music at the Pepsi Center, which again prove those who make decisions about such things believe this still is a hockey cowtown."
