QUOTE
If a visor is considered cowardly, but not wearing one is stupid, what to do?

It's surprising to see NHL rookies today playing without a visor. In 1975, Hockey Canada made it mandatory for every amateur player in the country to wear Canadian Standard Association-certified facial protection. That means that just about every player in the NHL today wore a full cage or shield from the first time they stepped on the ice as a five-year-old novice until the junior level, when they could switch to a half-visor.

Calgary Flames defenceman Denis Gauthier takes a hit from St. Louis Blues bruiser Keith Tkachuk. After a hit on the Los Angeles Kings' Jeremy Roenick, Gauthier is taking flak for wearing a visor despite having suffered a facial injury early in his career.

When I play (which is nothing more than a pick up every now and then at my local rink) I only ever have a full face cage. When I played with a team I once refused to go on the ice as the team didn't have a cages I could use.

IMO, not matter how good you are, you're stupid if you don't have at least a half sheild. Even then, a half sheild is still kinda stupid when there are better things out there.
