MIGHTY DUCKS OF ANAHEIM - Petr Sykora - With new head coach Randy Carlyle at the helm, expect the Ducks to be a more open-ice team than they were under the structured Mike Babcock. This should allow Sykora to flourish and get back to scoring goals in the mid-30s. Sykora tallied 35 goals and 46 assists for a Devils team that led the league in offense during the 2000-01 season.
...
CAROLINA HURRICANES - Martin Gerber - The former Anaheim backup is receiving a chance to start in Carolina after performing admirably as Jean-Sebastien Giguere's understudy. Gerber, who will be backed up by rookie Cam Ward, needs to prove he can hold up with a starter's workload.
...
TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING - Vaclav Prospal - Prospal flourished with Tampa in 02-03, leading the team in scoring with 79 points (22g, 57a). He was acquired by Anaheim the following campaign but watched his production dip. It will be interesting if he immediately fits right back in with the Bolts.
