Ok, I know you responded with "WHo gives a ----?"

But just wondering everyones opinions. You got two players who literally gave their former teams the finger, to hightail it to a team they both thought would win them the cup, without having to do all the work. And it looks like karma is paying them a nice little visit. Whether you still respect the guys, or, in the majority, would like to see them dipped in glue, you got to wonder what will become of these two now.

Anyone think Selanne will remain in the NHL [of course, provided we get a season, '04-'05]? The Avs won't resign him, so I think, as he hinted at previously, he will return to Finland, where he will be treated as a hero. I think if he stays in the league, he will end up on a team like the Columbus Blue Jackets. I feel his days are done. Or, possibly, he will be asked to coach the Avs when Granato is fired in a few days. Just kidding [about the Selanne & the coach thing, not the Granato firing]

As for Kariya-do you think any GM will want this guy? I mean, he DOES still have skills left, but do you think GM's may be wary of his lying ways? He will never get a fat check ever again, and I can't see him settling for a measley paycheck. My guess is, if nothing good comes his way, he will end up as a NY Ranger.

I think Selanne has a very good chance of getting an offer from Colorado and although he said that this would be his last season, it would not surprise me if he signed with the Avs. I doubt seriously that the Avs will offer anything to Paul Kariya. I'm sure someone will sign him (actually it wouldn't surprise me if he ended up in Los Angeles). Bottom line is that neither Paul Kariya or Teemu Selanne will ever make the money they did or hold the positions they held. Their future is not nearly as bright as their pasts, and even if they play many more seasons, their glory days are forever gone.

With the CBA stalemate pending ... blink.gif

I don't see either one moving to the WHL if that gets off the ground.
I suppose they could both prolong their waning careers in Europe, Australia, South Africa, Japan or Kazahkstan. biggrin.gif

The thing is, Pierre Lacoix will need to make a decision about PK and TS on 7/1 or close to that time. The CBA expires in September, so NHL GMs still need to conduct a certain level of business in regards to their free agents even though there is uncertainty about the CBA.

Selanne is done. Back to Finland or retire.

As much as we hate him, Kariya will always be wanted by someone. Heck I'd even take him back here as long as he begged. That would be something.

Interesting take saying that Selanne would be signed over Kariya in an Avs uniform. No, I highly doubt that. All of the Denver press for most of the season long since gave up on him. No that they decide, but local press tends to have a feel for things. Unless he were to take a major paycut, the Avs would NOT waste the money. Being an Avs fan for many years, I have seen how the GM Lacroix deals with players. Selanne won't be back. Not, if, and this is probable, Forsberg skips a year in the NHL and goes back to Sweden, they COULD sign Kariya. He does play well with Sakic and Steve K. He really didn't play much this year, so I don't think they would hold that against him. As for MY opinion, I hope they both go out of Denver. It was very hard for me to boo and hiss at the Avs all year, and see my friends HATE the avs all because of Teemu and Paul. So, i hope they leave.
