Theodore made nine saves in the opening 20 minutes and 23 overall, backstopping Montreal's 4-1 victory over the Rangers that gave the Canadiens a split of the home-and-home series.

The Leafs, looking like they were feeling the after-effects of Saturday's 8-0 rout at the hands or rival Ottawa, put in a listless effort before catching a break when Ponikarovsky's wrist shot from the left faceoff circle deflected off sliding Florida defenceman Mike Van Ryn and between the legs of goalie Jamie McLennan.
