Fighting majors are down nearly 50 percent this season. Through the first 150 games -- a period that ended last Thursday -- there were 119 major penalties handed out, mostly for fighting. In the first 150 games in 2003-04, there were 224 majors.

You know, I've noticed that there are fewer fights in the NHL this year, it was kinda weird seeing one in the last Canucks/Avs game because I think that's the first one I've seen this season. Fighting is alive in well in the WHL though!
