Pavel Bure has officially retired as a player, and will take over as general manager for the Russian Olympic Team, according to the Reuters News Agency.

Bure has not played since injuring his right knee in March of 2003.

"There comes a time when you have to make a decision and move on," said Bure

He was a great player. Surprised to see him as a GM though.

My favorite card of him is with him in shorty shorts and roller blades. Great photo. He had so many knee problems and surgeries, the guy is lucky to walk. Skating is not much of an option, certainly not at NHL level. I wish him well.

I think it's really sad that Pavel had to retire, great player . Only one who could compete with him in goal scoring was Selanne. Here's a Pavel Bure montage.
