QUOTE
"The Virginia Court of Appeals upheld a Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission finding that "fighting is an integral part of the game of hockey" and that Ty A. Jones' injury arose in the course of his employment as an "enforcer."

Jones' former team, the Norfolk Admirals, had argued that the fight amounted to willful misconduct and that he was not entitled to workers' compensation."

Worker's comp is for injuries on the job. Interesting that the hockey team was arguing that an enforcer wasn't going to be fighting. blink.gif

"The purpose of worker's compensation is to provide prompt and reasonable income and medical benefits to work accident victims, regardless of fault. In order to be compensable, an accident or illness must arise out of and in the course of employment."

The main reason the team probably fought it was because every employer pays hefty premiums for workers comp. Having a claim means their premiums go up.
