From USAToday.com: "But then again maybe teams won't even wait until then. Word is that the New York Islanders would like to make a deal to shake up their roster, and the New Jersey Devils, pushed against the cap, have been looking around. The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, one of the league's most aggressive teams in the offseason, has been poking into possible deals."

So if trade would come who could we depart first. I left out Getzlaf, Perry, Ryan, but listed Scott... Those are the guys with at least some trade value... There are different contracts and stuff, but... the question is, who???

The ball is in the hands of Mr. Burke worthy.gif , but ... wink.gif

I voted "other" because I don't think it's a player issue. I think it's a system problem. Read my recap of the Dallas game for reasons why.

I don't really think trading is really an option this early in the season. Granted, its 18 games in and you could claim that that is enough time but i disagree. With all the injuries and line switches carlyle likes to make, some players are bound to suffer. I think we should wait till half way through the season (or maybe longer), when a hopefully injury free team can play and some lines are established. Then the unperformers are either given some type of ultimatum or traded. And as Dk and others have stated, the blame should not fall solely on the players, the coaching staff and the whole team should take the blame. We aren't losing as individuals we are losing as a team.

Fedorov of course. He is just a huge waste of cap space IMO. We should be looking for a center that can easily harmonize with the style of play Teemu and/or Joffrey has. Maybe a deal for Scott Gomez (NJ)? Or Jason Blake (NYI), although he also is quite old?

I think that things must be shaken up early, otherwise it will be far too late. I believe major trade could shake things up. As would be firing head coach. Personally I would do latter...

We are losing close games. Either in regulation or OTs. We are losing the biggest games. We are 0-1-0 down against Kings and Stars and 0-0-1 against Sharks. We are 2-0-1 up against Coyotes. In division 2-2-2 so far. This record will not carry us far. This can become habit (mental thing) sooner than we like.

We need change.

I voted Sykora, he's the most tradeable. Large contract give up cap room this season, last year of contract fo the other team to drop if he's a play-off rental.

Fedorov and S. Nieds both have humongous contracts that won't fit in other teams' caps. The few teams that could afford either of them don't have anything of value to offer back.

Giguere is playing very well this season and is back in form. While more valuable this year than last, I still doubt he'd be traded.

Selanne - inexpensive and producing. The guy is a perfect fit here. He's not going anywhere.

Ozo - been suffering some bad luck lately with injuries. Last season had shoulder surgery. Didn't play during the lockout. He has a lot to offer the Ducks when healthy and playing, but I don't think he has a lot to offer in terms of trade value right now.

Andy Mac - History of concussions and spotty production. On again, off again. No significant salary to free up. Not a likely candidate.

Carney - solid on defense, producing this year, dependable and truly deserving of a letter on his chest. Leads on and off the ice and offers some intangibles. On final year of contract and getting older. Could be going, but would leave a big hole in our D that we can't afford to have right now.

Salei - taking some really costly penalties. Senior Duck. Possible trade bait.

Sykora - not putting it in the net, but not for lack of shooting. Last year of contract. Most likely trade bait of the group. Frees up some money, could get reasonable player in return. Done with contract this year and free agent if not re-signed.

Other guys - someone might be folded into a package deal. Perry, Getzlaf and Lupul are what I would call untouchable. They are the future of the franchise. Everyone else is up for grabs, so to speak.

However, what does continue to shift people going to do in terms of chemistry? More new people? It takes time to adjust to systems and each other, for the most part. I'd rather work with the group we have now and try to fine tune what is wrong. When they are putting it all together, it looks great.
