Eric Lindros was skating in his first game against the Rangers since joining Toronto this season as a free agent, but it was Bryan McCabe, a former Islanders captain, who scored two power-play goals to lift the Maple Leafs to a 2-1 victory before a crowd of 19,442 at the Air Canada Center.

Saku Koivu knew the hockey world was wondering how the loss of Alex Kovalev would affect the first-place Montreal Canadiens - and the team captain refused to allow for any kind of letdown.

Koivu scored his second goal of the game at 4:56 of overtime as the Montreal Canadiens squandered a three-goal third-period lead Tuesday but rallied to beat the slumping Florida Panthers 4-3.

Chris Drury and J.P. Dumont had a goal and an assist each as the Buffalo Sabres defeated the New Jersey Devils, 4-1, at HSBC Arena.

Martin Biron made 21 saves, Brian Campbell tallied his second goal of the season and Daniel Briere scored late for the Sabres, who have won two of their last three games after a four-game losing streak.
