I'm sure you're all familiar with the fact that Patrik Elias of the New Jersey Devils has yet to play this year, recovering from a serious bout with hepatitis A. Anyway, he's rounding into game shape and here's an article that details his progress.

I really liked it so I thought I would pass it along:

Still a rollercoaster ride. Sigh ... Go Ducks!

Thanks forbesy! It was indeed a great read! I'm looking forward to seeing Elias back in games ... tho' not against the Ducks.

"Getting sick made me appreciate everything that you have here," Elias said. "I wish a lot of the guys would have gone back to Russia to play, to see what kind of environment you play in. The league was great hockey-wise, but the conditions are not even close. It makes you thankful for the NHL.

"When you listen to the older people talk about life, they tell you it's peaks and valleys. Well, I was going toward a peak. Now I have to work hard to get back there. But everything happens for a reason. The Czech doctors told me they lost a 26-year-old man who had hepatitis A, and he wasn't even as sick as I was. So, I appreciate the things I have in life. I'm okay with what happened, maybe because I know I'll be back."

Agreed, Elias is great to watch and its a shame we havent seen him in the league lighting it up this year. Let hope for him to make a speedy recovery!
