"The issue percolated again this week, when officials representing a new downtown arena in Kansas City, a group that includes Los Angeles Kings president Tim Leiweke, reiterated their desire to have an NHL team as their anchor tenant.
Specifically, Anschutz Entertainment Group would like to have Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins come to Kansas City when their new building opens in fall 2007. The Penguins play in the NHL's oldest building, the Mellon Arena, and the team has been embroiled in a lengthy battle with city and state officials over funding for a new arena that will be crucial to the team's future in Pittsburgh."

They should move the team to Winnipeg IMO. Or maybe Portland, OR. I don't honestly know anything about Kansas City though...I have no idea what kind of hockey town they may or may not be.

KC's had hockey teams before. The Scouts which became the NJ Devils. There's a devoted following to the Chiefs (NFL) even though they keep breaking everyone's hearts, and even to the Royals which are one of the worst teams in baseball.
I think hockey would do well in KC. And hey, they'd have some of the best bbq in the world

PITTSBURGH (AP) - A Massachusetts developer wants to buy the Penguins and either keep the hockey team in the city or move them to Hartford, Conn., where he is trying to get state officials to build a new arena, a newspaper reported Friday.

Gottesdiener told The Hartford Courant this week that he hired brokers and is eyeing teams, including the Penguins, that might be ripe for acquisition.

I like the thought of the Winnipeg Jets coming back...
They have a brand new building which seats 15,505 which would put them right in the middle to upper end of attendance, but the building can be expanded adding 2,000 seat to increase them to 17,505, which would be sold out every game for sure.

Wow, Hamilton?!
I don't think there are even 800,000 people there, and there are WAY too many Leafs' fans in that area...

Hamilton would be perfect to NHL team...They have the building...IT does need to be upgraded but it holds over 18,500.
RIM has been linked to putting a team Hamilton.
Problem is the team is too close to Toronto and Buffalo. Both would have an issue with a team in Hamilton....
