Wow. I'm pretty surprised by this:

Canucks Won't Extend Burke's Contract

QUOTE
After the team failed to advance out of the first round this postseason, the Vancouver Canucks have decided to let president and general manager Brian Burke take the fall.

You never have to worry about the Canucks making anyone a better offer for anything..their owners are cheap. wink.gif Looks like they are going to promote from within anyhow, my guess would be Tambellini.

Dumb move by management, Burke was doing great (considering the money allowed him). He may be a little slow on the trigger for deals but I have a hard time believing Tambellini will do better. Time will tell.

Burke consistently failed to address their problems in goal. He did a good job with what he did do, but he never did enough. Maybe he didn't have enough to spend, but goal is not the place to be chintzy.

Agreed on that point but at this point, I don't see how many options are available. Time will tell.

Well, this move wasn't too unpredictable, but I must say, I'm a little bit disappointed. Burke wasn't the greatest GM ever, and did make some questionable deals, but did do well under the tight budget. He made sure the Canucks didn't get ripped off, and made sure players didn't get more money than deserved, although Bertuzzi's case is pretty arguable.

Yeah, why get rid of Bertuzzi???? Actually, I thought Burke was, well...different. Some of the things he said were off the wall, but that doesn't mean he wasn't a good GM. I was surprised also.
