Wayne Gretzky will not be behind the bench when the Coyotes play in Colorado this evening. Coyotes assistant coach Rick Tocchet told Phoenix media last week that Gretzky could return as late as a New Year's Eve game against the Avs in Glendale, Ariz. - Denver Post
There is a chance that the Maple Leafs will get Alexander Steen back in the lineup in seven to 10 days. The rookie forward has been sidelined with a dislocated thumb. - Toronto Star

Thrashers rookie netminder Kari Lehtonen may start in goal tonight against the Canadiens. Lehtonen has not seen action since opening night, suffering a series of groin muscle injuries.
