Well seeing as it IS Christ's birthday, it IS Christmas. Hannukkah and Kwanzaa are their own holidays, but Christmas is about Christ.

Well I'm a heathen (have no religious tendancies at all) so I go with the joy of spending time with family and sheer commericalism of giving and receiving gifts. biggrin.gif I'm not fussed what we call it as long as we get time off work to eat, drink and be merry. gathering.gif

Ahh you heathen you. wink.gif

For those of us who have such proclivities it will always be Christmas. The Roman Catholics started it with Christ's Mass which has been contracted down to Christmas over the years. Albeit we do not know WHEN Y'Shua was born we are celebrating the FACT that He WAS born one day long ago. No one can take that away from the celebration. Others are celebrating the winter solstice. Others are celebrating that they get a couple of weeks off from schools. Still others are celebrating the retailers festival of ka-ching-ing cash registers. Regardless, like Barmy said, it's a time to spend time with family and friends eating, drinking and making merry.

Peace on earth and good will to men (and women). That may not be the reality but that IS the wish. smile.gif

Well said Reb. That's the wish regardless of our religious inclination (or lack thereof). And we must all work to make it a reality.

And I voted too. Christmas it is.

People who find the name offensive are probably among the most self serving and ignorant ACLU morons around.....Despite the beliefs of lots of people Christmas is not a commercial contrivance. It is one of the holiest days in the christian faith.... people tend to forget that fact. Regardless of whether one chooses to practice/accept the christian faith its pointless and extremley offensive and selfish to try and adjust it to make it reflect oneself more. If someone is that disgusted by the idea of having a holiday revolving around christ...well....they can go ahead and make up their own pretend holiday as an exuse for a winter break...hell black people did it(Kwanzaa)

We had a Jahovah Witness incident to. It wasn't around Christmas though. They came down our driveway (we lived on a farm, and I don't know why they came there) and all of a sudden WHAM! Our 3/4 German Sheperd was all over them. And they never made it to the front door. biggrin.gif
