Goaltender Marty Turco will have a tough act to follow if he returns to the lineup when the Dallas Stars host the Detroit Red Wings.

Turco did not travel with the team Monday, when backup goaltender Johan Hedberg helped the Stars to an easy 6-1 win over the St. Louis Blues. Not only did Hedberg come 3:52 shy of his first shutout of the season, he also had a pair of assists as Dallas won for the 13th time in 17 games.

"Marty's one of the absolute best goaltenders in the world," said Hedberg, who became the first goalie with two assists since Patrick Roy accomplished the feat with the Colorado Avalanche on Dec. 29, 2000.

The Pittsburgh Penguins hope to snap a five-game losing streak tonight and give new coach Michel Therrien his first win when they welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs to Mellon Arena.

The Predators' current hot streak has drawn them within two points of Detroit for first place in the Central Division. Nashville's five-game win streak is the longest for the club since winning eight in a row to begin this year.
