I'm hoping for an SJ win. That would keep the Sharks one point behind the Ducks and the Crapalanche 3 points ahead. If, and now a days that's a big word in Duckland, the Ducks win tomorrow they can inch closer to a playoff spot.

Lehtonen makes his return to the net when the Thrashers visit the Buffalo Sabres at HSBC Arena.

Lehtonen, the second-overall pick in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, has been limited to only one period of action this season due to a groin injury.

Sports Illustrated Scorecard Daily / Truth & Rumors
QUOTE
Lightning coach John Tortorella, during a loud, expletive-filled, lectern-pounding eruption, pinned much of the blame for a loss to the Canadiens and the team's troubles on goaltender John Grahame. Thursday, Tortorella said he regretted the drama, not so much because he called out a player (that is nothing new) but for the way he lost his cool and for getting off his team-concept message.
  -- St. Petersburg Times

Manny Legace won't ring in the New Year with his Red Wings teammates. The goaltender had expected to do so earlier this week. Instead, he's headed to Grand Rapids to play for the American Hockey League Griffins this weekend.
  -- Detroit Free Press

The Flyers trainer said Keith Primeau continues to have post-concussion symptoms, including a spinning sensation and pressure in his head. The Flyers center is taking a prescribed drug to aid with his balance, the trainer said. There remains widespread speculation in the NHL that Primeau, who has been out of the lineup since the end of October, will not play this season. Primeau and the Flyers believe he will return, although it may not be until after the Olympics in February.
  -- Philadelphia Inquirer

The news on Flyer Turner Stevenson is not encouraging. On Wednesday in Nashville, Stevenson visited the specialist who performed surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right hip. The doctor told Stevenson there is nothing wrong with the repaired cartilage. That does not explain the stabbing pain the Flyers winger has had in his hip.

The Sabres have done a terrific job of adjusting to the new league and its new rules, which might explain why they look like a new team. But the secret is out, and they should expect more opponents like the one they stole a point from Thursday night. Suddenly, they're being chased.

Joe Thornton just got his lip busted (bleeding) and has lost a bunch of teeth with a high stick. No call. The ref was 3 feet away. This league has a real problem with the way games are being called.
