anyone think the wings days are over? you got yzerman, shanahan, chelios, hull and joseph all impending free agents. theyre not all gonna get signed, with the cba coming up, DUH! take those players away, you still got some decent players, but then again...SO DO WE!!!
So, you think the days of the wings being the big bullys on the block are done and over?

I'll state the obvious: they're an old team that needs to rebuild. Starting with the coach. However, I hope they stay put and just decay.

It'll be tough to rebuild, they mortgaged the future these past few years, giving up draft picks and promising youth for a Cup ready team. But their owner is committed to making them competitive...

even with trading a lot of their picks away, the red wings are still left with one of the brightest futures for up and comers ... igor grigorenko, juri hudler, stephane liv, andres myravold, niklas kronwall, etc etc ... theres many more i can spell wrong, but choose not to now ... if they lose some of their veteran leadership and go for a youth oriented movement what a crazy idea ... almost as crazy as tampa, calgary, san jose, nashville, pitts, and all the other teams with a young team with a bright future ... and the ducks too

Detroit has enough prospect depth to remain in the playoff hunt for some years while they rebuild.

They certainly do and they can use that and build on the young ones already on the team - Datsyuk and Zetterberg mostly. The future is certainly not "dead' for the Wings, which gives me hope.
