On New Year's Eve I was at the Glendale Arena for the first time watching the Yotes and the Avs trying to play a game called hockey. Besides the fact that the game was a real snore, I have got to vent about the arena.

First of all, can you spell C-H-E-A-P? No, I am not referring to the price of admittance. We paid $50.00 for seats in the front of the "2nd" level --- hahahahaha! The "2nd" level is in the stratosphere above the first level and the box seats.

The seats were sized for 11 year old children. Normal sized people couldn't sit and have a drink in the drink holder because the fat guy's spare tire in the next seat would totally obliterate the drink. The cup holders were, alas, not retractable and they were on both sides of the seat. Our whole row of people including the children were saying that we should have brought couple of 2 x 4's to place on the armrests to turn the whole row into a bench! Once you sat down, forget standing up to root for your team (luckily, my Ducks were not on the ice and I do not root for either the Coyote Uglies or the Dives). Anyway....

We had to park in a dirt lot attached to the arena property. Ok. The property is still be developed and there is this huge space ship like domed stadium right on the same lot which in maybe 2010 will be available for the Phoenix Cardinals (football).

The arena was stark. There was absolutely NO EXPENSE SPARED at all for a creative or warm interior design. The low bidder on each and every aspect of this arena definitely won the bidding!!

I apologize to any Yotes fans out there who are happy to have a new arena. But, honestly, the old place the Coyotes use to use was just fine and had some history, liked to make the fans comfortable and had a great stacked parking structure next door.

I, sadly will never go back to Phoenix to see another hockey game even if the Ducks and Yotes are in a Stanley Cup playoff there ---- hahahahahahha -- that will NEVER happen!!

Next year, I hope to be whereever the Ducks' are for New Years! biggrin.gif
