Instead, after fighting his way back from a debilitating case of hepatitis A he acquired last winter while playing in Russia during the NHL lockout, Elias will play his first game of the season tonight at Continental Airlines Arena with the hope he can help a team that isn't sure it is capable of making the playoffs.

I'm glad Elias has recovered enough to play, but I hope he doesn't help the Devils too much! Two games below .500...moo ha ha! wicklaugh.gif

I'm glad he's back. It's going to take some time for him to get his legs (and hands) back, though.

I wouldn't want to play that guy... you know how easily bodily fluids are exchanged throughout the course of a game...

that has to be one of the most ridiculous comments I have read all week

Do a bit of reading up on Hep. A before you make such asinine comments

QUOTE
Hepatitis A virus is spread from person to person by putting something in the mouth that has been contaminated with the stool of a person with hepatitis A.  This type of transmission is called "fecal-oral." For this reason, the virus is more easily spread in areas where there are poor sanitary conditions or where good personal hygiene is not observed.

Most infections result from contact with a household member or sex partner who has hepatitis A.  Casual contact, as in the usual office, factory, or school setting, does not spread the virus.

If you've had hepatitis A in the past, can you get it again?
No. Once you recover from hepatitis A you develop antibodies that provide life-long protection from future infections. After recovering from hepatitis A, you will never get it again and you cannot transmit the virus to others.

I think you need to read the info that Jennifer posted. If you were attempting to be funny it didn't work. noexpression.gif

I'd like to apologize for my blatantly insensitive comment and ignorance of hepatitis A. I promise not to discuss whatever "fecal-oral" actions (hmm.gif) Elias takes part in again. I wish him and the rest of the organization the best...

Pretty amazing that he was able to come back and be able to play again at this level. He's lucky to be alive, much less playing again. I wish him all the best.

I have to agree there, he is very lucky. Saw him tonight and he did look a little jaundiced still, just wish him all the luck in a speedy recovery. He sure has been through a lot, poor kid.
