Still productive, but expensive and older. Someone should pick him up, but I don't think it will be the Ducks.

hehehe I don't think so...watch Columbus get him or Chicago since they have a lot of cap space and Fedorov Mogilny reunited ouu that would be sweet biggrin.gif

Pure salary dump now that Elias is back. We knew the Devils were having cap trouble and if they couldn't make a deal, they would have to put someone on waivers. He just might pass waivers, given the salary.

Also spying/lurking on some Devils messageboard(s) they also said his efficiency went down hill this season. His lack of energy decreased and thats why the Devils released him. Speculations say that he could go to Albany River Rats AHL Affliate or he could retire.

He has really been slumping. He's on the downhill in his career, it's sad, but it's time to retire I think. Or unite him up with sykora... hmm!

I doubt he'll put up with playing in Albany...I expect he'll retire if no one picks him up off waivers. It's too bad NJ couldn't just let him have until the end of the season to retire gracefully. dry.gif

I would have no problems getting this guy - if it weren't for the second year of his contract. I could put up with him for the next 40 games or so, and the Ducks need any offense they can get, but I would not want him under contract next year at $3.5 million.

According to TSN:

QUOTE
The Phoenix Coyotes may be interested in Devils forward Alexander Mogilny, who was placed on waivers Wednesday. Last week they tried and failed to acquire Vladimir Orszagh. - Arizona Republic

No no no!!! He'll be a huge impact if he'll sign with any western conference team. Stay in the East Coast Alex!

Mogilny, who cleared waivers last week, has 12 goals so far this season. Among those intrigued by him is Boston GM Mike O'Connell.

"We discussed him at length," O'Connell told the Boston Globe. "We looked at it seriously, definitely - not just in the light of our trouble scoring on the power play, but our trouble scoring in general."
