Mike Emrick (play-by-play), John Davidson (analyst) and Pierre McGuire (reporter) will comprise the lead broadcast team of the NHL on NBC, and Bill Clement will host the NHL on NBC studio show joined by analyst Ray Ferraro, it was announced today by Ken Schanzer, President, NBC Sports.

NBC drops the puck on its inaugural season Saturday, Jan. 14 with regional coverage of three games, headlined by Western Conference powerhouse the Detroit Red Wings facing off against Jaromir Jagr and the resurgent New York Rangers. That game, along with one game each week and the Stanley Cup Final, will be presented in high definition.

I don't mind Ferraro too much (I hear him doing the color for the Oilers games), but I'm happy Buccigross is nowhere in site.

The highlight of my television career will always be the NHL 2Night years. They will always be the most exciting, fun and fulfilling moments. I am confident nothing will surpass that. I just hope something comes close. For what it's worth, every Thursday night, except the 19th, I will be with Barry Melrose on ESPNEWS with our weekly mini-NHL 2Night called "Hockey Night." The 19th, I'll be in Orlando night putting. Putting at night.

NHL on NBC -- January 14th Game Previews

The National Hockey League returns to NBC Sports on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET, with three regional games when the Detroit Red Wings host the New York Rangers; the Philadelphia Flyers host the Colorado Avalanche and the Boston Bruins host the Dallas Stars.

Melrose and Bucci both still have contracts with espn, while davidson, clement, panger, and chicken parm all were let go (not renewed) after last year. Bucci is their new non-primetime sportscenter host, and mulletman is still espn's "in house" hockey analyst
