Please post your thoughts, pictures and comments for tonight's games in this thread.

Ottawa at Boston
TB at Buffalo
Philadelphia at NYR
Montreal at NJ
St. Louis at Detroit
Colorado at Minnesota
Vancouver Chicago
Columbus at SJ
Phoenix at LA

Definitely all games in the West have an impact on the Ducks who go into Dallas on Friday for a very tough game.

Some news on the NHL teams from TSN:

QUOTE
The Chicago Blackhawks have sent right wing Pavel Vorobiev to Norfolk of the AHL. Vorobiev is tied for fourth in team scoring with 20 points in 30 games but has not scored a point in his last five games.

# Eric Lindros is sporting a new cast on his right wrist to help deal with the healing process of his damaged ligament, but he won't know for at least two weeks whether he'll still need surgery. "Hopefully, it heals on its own and we won't have to worry about alternative ways (surgery) to deal with it." Lindros has not played since Dec. 10. -Toronto Star

# Nick Boynton, who suffered a fractured kneecap Dec. 4 in Vancouver, skated for the first time Wednesday. He said it went as well as could be expected. The team has not set a return date for Boynton. -Boston Globe

# Defenseman Philippe Boucher was scheduled to have X-rays taken Thursday to determine how his broken middle finger is healing. He's missed 12 games because of the injury. Stars coach Dave Tippett said he hopes Boucher will be cleared to practice by Friday. It's unclear when he might return to the team. - Dallas Morning News

# Steve Yzerman is set to play tonight for Detroit for the first time since suffering a nagging groin injury back on December 12. Yzerman said he has "significant" improvement in how he feels compared to a week ago. - Detroit Free Press

# The New York Islanders have lost goaltender Garth Snow and forward Jason Blake for an undetermined amount of time with potentially serious injuries. Blake couldn't walk upright after he was knocked out of Wednesday's game with what the team called bruised ribs. Snow suffered a MCL sprain in his left knee in the final minute of the third when Alexei Zhitnik and Nathan Horton fell onto him. - New York Post

# Flyers coach Ken Hitchcock has shuffled his lines again, moving Jeff Carter to Peter Forsberg's line and deploying Mike Knuble on a line with Michal Handzus and Sami Kapanen. Hitchcock also tried these lines at practice: R.J. Umberger centering for Ben Eager and Brian Savage, and Mike Richards centering for Donald Brashear and Branko Radivojevic. The last time Hitchcock shuffled his top line it lasted all of one shift. - Philadelphia Enquirer

There were some very interesting games on tonight. That butt check McLaren did on Duvie (see photo above posted by DTP) was like getting hit by a Mac truck!! He sent the kid flying into the boards, never realized his butt was such a lethal weapon.. blink.gif

I also want Rick Nash to come here. That is one brick of a boy and such a good player. He should not be forced to play on a team like the Jackets, Ducks would suit him better.

Jarkko trumps Tuomo in Canucks win

CHICAGO (AP) - The Vancouver Canucks got a pair of third-period penalty shots and made the second one count.

Jarkko Ruutu converted with 2:02 left - after Alexandre Burrows missed his chance 34 seconds into the third - and the Canucks defeated Chicago 3-2 Thursday night to hand the Blackhawks their ninth straight loss.

...
Tuomo Ruutu - Jarkko's younger brother - scored for the Blackhawks, who last lost nine in a row from Feb. 17 to March 7, 2003.

"The only way to get out of this is to keep working," Chicago coach Trent Yawney said. "It's all we can do. We have to keep persevering."

...
Tuomo Ruutu opened the scoring with 7:44 left in the first. After skating down left wing, he fired a rising wrist shot from the circle that beat Auld high on the glove side and landed in the upper right corner of the net.

Ruutu's goal was his first after missing 25 games with a back injury and first since the second game of the season.

...
Jarkko Ruutu scored on his penalty shot, using a backhander to beat Anderson with 2:02 left.

Lapointe cut it to 3-2 with 1:37 left on a shot from the slot.

Notes: It was the second time in franchise history the Canucks had two penalty shots in a game. Blackhawks F Mikael Holmqvist and Andy Hilbert were healthy scratches. ... Vancouver D Ed Jovanovksi missed his fourth game with a groin injury. Canucks D Wade Brookbank sat out his 10th with a concussion. ... Vancouver D Kevin Bieksa earned his first NHL point with an assist on Naslund's second-period goal. He was playing in his ninth game.
