"I loved it here," said Thornton, traded to San Jose on Nov. 30.

Time to cheer for the EC teams; they could provide some help to our Ducks. It would be nice to see Sykora put some in the net against the Flames, Gerber make some good saves agains the Wings, and Bryan Murray's Senators stop Phoenix, I would even cheer if Crosby could help the Pens defeat the Oilers

But they could meet their match Tuesday night against a group of skilled Czech forwards dressed as New York Rangers.
...
Help is on the way, though, in the form of 29-year-old Czech winger Petr Sykora, whom Rangers general manager Glen Sather acquired from Anaheim on Sunday.
...
He could form a potent scoring line with centre Michael Nylander and Prucha to complement the No. 1 trio of Jagr, Martin Straka and Martin Rucinsky.
"We've got to develop some scoring from some other angles in our lineup," Rangers coach Tom Renney told the New York Times on Monday. "We have to be a little less predictable. And what a guy like [Sykora] does, it certainly adds finish, there's no question about that.
"But he also maybe adds a distraction, maybe loosens somebody else up."

"It's the same as it is for everybody. Just like everybody else, you have to play him physically and be hard on him, try and take time and space away."
Peca said the skillful Crosby deserves respect, but sounds confident the Oilers will be up to the challenge if they work as a team.
"He's proven to be a game-breaker," Peca explained.
"He's very strong on the puck, he controls it incredibly and he makes plays. It'll be a tough test, but it's never a one-man effort, it's always a five-man effort."
