Late Breaking Updates and Notes for January 13
Nik Antropov is ready to return to the Maple Leaf lineup after missing the past month with a strained knee. He practiced alongside Matt Stajan and Kyle Wellwood yesterday. It appears that Eric Lindros will not need to undergo corrective surgery on his wrist. The torn ligament in the wrist seems to have healed sufficiently for Lindros to attempt a return to action. Mariusz Czerkawski will not be available for tomorrow night's game against the Coyotes. He sustained an undisclosed injury in practice yesterday. Bryan McCabe (Groin) will not play tomorrow night against Phoenix. - Toronto Star
There is a good chance that Sean Burke will start in goal for the Lightning tonight against Columbus. - St. Petersburg Times
Penguins netminder Marc-Andre Fleury will start in goal tonight against the Blackhawks. Adam Munro will start for Chicago. Adrian Aucoin suffered his third groin injury this season on Wednesday. Blackhawks blueliner Brent Seabrook partook in his first practice yesterday. He is still at least one week away from actually playing in a game. - Chicago Sun-Times/Pittsburgh Tribune Review
Flyers goalie Robert Esche did not rehab his torn groin muscle yesterday as he is suffering from the flu. - Philadelphia Inquirer
Predators defenceman Danny Markov is questionable for tonight's contest against Carolina after injuring his ankle blocking a shot on Wednesday. Kimmo Timonen is also probable as he injured his ankle Wednesday night blocking a shot. - The Nashville Tennessean
Manny Legace will get the start for the Red Wings tonight. Henrik Zetterberg will lineup on the wing tonight with Pavel Datsyuk as his centre, allowing Robert Lang to return to centre on the other line in tonight's game against Philadelphia. - Detroit Free Press
Kings centre Jeremy Roenick should be back within two weeks, according to coach Andy Murray. Roenick has dropped 15 pounds due to a rigorous workout schedule. - Los Angeles Times
Defenceman Stephane Robidas has been moved to forward because of the trade of Janne Niinimaa to Dallas. Robidas played on Thursday on a line with Niklas Hagman and Steve Ott. - Dallas Morning News
Panthers netminder Roberto Luongo has tendinitis in his right ankle, but will be able to play with the injury. - Miami Herald
Blackhawks netminder Nikolai Khabibulin took some shots in practice Wednesday and yesterday. He will need some full practices before getting into games and could be back next week. - Chicago Sun-Times
Bruins forward Glen Murray has a deep bone bruise on his right foot and will likely miss Saturday's game against Dallas. - Boston Globe
