Late Breaking Updates and Notes for Tuesday, January 17

Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury played in his 23rd game on Monday night against the Vancouver Canucks, but that doesn't mean he should be planning his return trip to Wilkes-Barre any time soon. General manager Craig Patrick said before last night's game that Fleury will stay at least through the 25th game that will trigger the possibility of Fleury's earning up to $3 million in bonuses this year. - Pittsburgh Tribune Review

Injured forwards Ronald Petrovicky and Brad Larsen are expected to play with the Thrashers on their two-game trip to Dallas and Los Angeles on Wednesday and Thursday. Right wing Peter Bondra is not far behind, coach Bob Hartley said Monday. - Atlanta Journal Consitution

Mike Commodore (leg) and Andrew Ladd (knee) are both day-to-day and were scheduled to travel to Philadelphia after practicing Monday. - Charlotte News Observer

Avalanche goalie David Aebischer will make his seventh consecutive start today against Toronto. He has won six in a row while stopping 163 of 172 shots for a .948 saves percentage. - Rocky Mountain News

Manny Legace has won his past two starts, but coach Mike Babcock said he would start Chris Osgood in goal against Columbus on Wednesday. Mathieu Schneider was kept out of practice Monday because of the flu. - Detroit Free Press/Detroit News

The Kings were hoping for a boost with the scheduled return of center Eric Belanger for tonight's game against Tampa Bay. Instead, they got a jolt when the center reinjured his groin during Monday's practice. - LA Times

Marian Gaborik was called for his third diving penalty of the season Monday. Under the league's crackdown on embellishing, that will earn Gaborik a $3,000 fine and a reprimand from the league. One more dive would draw a one-game suspension. - Pioneer Press

Center Petr Nedved, whom the Coyotes have been unsuccessfully trying to trade, played after being benched the past two games and notched an assist in 17 minutes of ice time. - Arizona Republic

An interesting article, though sad, on the St. Louis Blues. Thought Jennifer might enjoy it.

I saw the end of that game - pretty exciting finish. Carolina came from behind to win the game. Gerbs wasn't spectacular in the shootout, but he didn't have to be - his team had some pretty good shooters. Matt Cullen is considered something of a shootout specialist. blink.gif

More info on why Garon left the game:

QUOTE
LaBarbera, who rejoined the Kings on Monday following a brief conditioning assignment with Manchester of the AHL, replaced Mathieu Garon at the start of the second period and made 12 saves. Garon left the game because of a bruised shoulder.
