The 33-year-old Palffy was injured while playing for the Los Angeles Kings at Anaheim in January 2004. He had reconstructive surgery on his right shoulder twice, but the problems persisted.

I wonder if Todd Simpson was the cause of Palffy's injury.


Whatever the reason, it's sad to see Ziggy retiring from the game before his time.

I feel for Palffy. It's so sad he had to quit but I can understand. I've had two surgeries to my left shoulder and may need yet another. Them shoulders are tricky....even if you don't do hockey..
