Sources say Berard, who was invited to the U.S. summer Olympic evaluation camp and therefore eligible for Olympic testing, tested positive for the substance nandrolone, an anabolic steroid which is on the IOC banned substance list.

weird to think he tested positive, but it won't have any impact on his current standing or status within the NHL

Berard would only be sanctioned by the NHL if he tested positive within the joint testing program of the NHL and NHL Players Association which began last Sunday.
Sounds like he quit the dope just in time!

The dude is playing with one eye. Let's let him use steroids if he needs to.

Seriously, this is shocking. I did not think there were any NHL players on 'roids, much less any star players. Berard has been a guy I've admired for coming back from losing sight in one eye to not just play in the NHL - but play well. This takes away some of that admiration as now I have to chalk up some of his accomplishments to the fact that he uses steroids...and that's too bad.

''No question, I'm embarrassed about it,'' Berard said after practice Friday. ''There's nothing I can do about it now, other than accepting what I've done. We'll learn from it, it was a mistake and it won't happen again.''

No surprise there. You can bet that some of those "quick recoveries" after major injuries got some help. A lot of over the counter "health food" supplements contain steroids under different names. You could be taking them and not even know it. dontgetit.gif
