good luck, goalie at that level has a pretty steep learning curve...especially since you wont be playing in an all girls league. Just remember always cover the posts, never give center ice your back, and never back into the crease(it cuts off angles and makes you bigger) Your objective is to make the puck hit you. As a learning goalie let your defense be responsible for clearing out rebounds at this point your job is to make the first save and thats it. I would also recommend playing catch with a baseball or something. I use to be coach for a pee wee team. I had a girl goalie once (she was younger then you granted) but she got around to being quite solid. Have fun with it and PM me if you have any questions ... i might be able to help you a bit.

lol Thank you guys! And thanks for the tips HkyFan! I will definately ask you if need be (which Im sure I will lol) This league isn't too competitive, and I am used to playing goalie. Believe it or not, but playing goalie in soccer for 5 years has helped me alot! I will definately practice tossing a baseball just for good hand-eye coordination. We'll see how good I really am when my dad comes home from Afghanistan next week. He's from Minnesota, and he grew up playing hockey. It'll be fun! I finally got a goal today, so I wont have to use the chest of drawers in my garage as a goal any more lol.

I will definately have fun! I may not have any self-confidence, but I have a passion for hockey, and I am VERY Persistant. lol I have been putting on my goalie pads almost everyday practicing getting up and down, though I don't know how to do ne of the leg pad stuff (butterfly, splits etc.). Thanks for all the encouraging words! I'll tell ya how I do after my first game, which is in about 3 weeks!

Bit of a coincidence... me and my little bro will probably learn to play ice hockey soon. He's on a waiting list for Chelmsford, and I'm apparently on one for Romford (yes, that horrible rink I showed you. XD)

dribble.gif That would be incredible! I am going to probably start playing Ice when we move to Florida, seeing how there are three rinks in the part of Tampa I am moving too.

Going to the Olympics after only playing for four years would be insane.

Good for you. post-876-1130305243.gif

After four years and going to the Olympics is not as insane as you might think.
It depends on desire, training, hard work. It's doable. wink.gif

lol, well thank you for the confidence boost! I just got a call from the 'league' and my first practice is on Friday at 5:30. I am the only goalie on my team, so I'll be seeing 'ice' time lol.

I am definately going to be working hard! And I cant WAIT until Friday!

I just got back from my first practice! My parents spent the whole time getting complements from all the other parents, the coaches and the guy who is incharge of the league! It was so much fun! I love non-competitive sports, and it's a great way to adjust!

I'm #35 (surpirse surprise) and our jerseys are the Atlanta Thrashers jerseys!

Thanks for all your support! I had a great time!
