The NHL wants to reduce the size from 12 inches to 10.

10 inches is wide enough, watch games from the 80's or even early 90's and the pads were way smaller than what these guys are wearing now.
More importantly though in speeding up the flow of the game is making the goalies fair game if they go behind the goal line to play the puck, it wont make it open season on goalies, it will keep them in the crease and out of the forecheckers way allowing teams, who will unfortunately use this dump and chase crap, to get more scoring oppurtunities

Can the players make up their minds already?? You want to score more goals, or have a chance to or not??? Okay goalies are fab, so it isn't just the larger equipment. There are other factors, the ole clutch and grab in le neutral zone, etc. But, how come the goalies who DON'T have the cow size pads are still making saves and winning games? I am not even gonna mention names. Look at the goalies, you can tell......
