The NHL has suspended Detroit Red Wing defenceman Derian Hatcher for three games, TSN has learned.

Hatcher was suspended for his elbow to the head of Caglary's Matthew Lombardi in Game 6 of the Detroit-Calgary series. Lombardi returned from the hit to the finish the game, but has not played since then, missing Game 1 of the San Jose-Calgary conference final.

The NHL conducted a disciplinary hearing with Hatcher Tuesday morning.

The three regular season games will be served at the beginning of next season

Lurch got what he deserves.

It's good to hear the NHL may be starting to crack down on dirty plays like this.
