Late Breaking Updates and Notes for Tuesday, March 21
Avalanche forward Alex Tanguay had an MRI today, which revealed no further damage to his knee. He will be out of the lineup for 2-4 weeks.
Senators forward Jason Spezza will not play tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He's out with a sore back and hip. - TSN
Maple Leafs defenceman Brendan Bell has been called up and will play in place of Wade Belak who will miss the game due to his wife giving birth. Forward Alexander Suglobov has also been recalled from the Toronto Marlies. - TSN
Flyers fowards Peter Forsberg and Sami Kapanen are expected to play Tuesday night against New Jersey. Goaltender Antero Niittymaki will get the start. - Philadelphia Inquirer
Blue Jackets forward Sergei Fedorov is expected to play tonight against the Phoenix Coyotes, after missing the last two games with a back injury. - Columbus Post-Dispatch
Lightning goaltender Sean Burke was back on the ice just four days after breaking his right index finger. He's still not expected to start for at least a week. - Tampa Tribune
Defenseman Ryan Whitney, who sat out the Penguins' 1-0 loss to Toronto Sunday because of a neck injury, participated in the team's workout Monday. He's questionable for tonight's game against Ottawa. - Pittsburgh Post Gazette
Forward Mike York is expected to return to the Islanders' lineup Tuesday night against Montreal. - New York Post
Panthers forward Nathan Horton, who missed Saturday's game at Washington with the flu, was back at practice and in the lineup Monday. - Miami Herald
Hurricanes' defenceman Aaron Ward is questionable for Tuesday's game against Toronto, while foward Josef Vasicek is on schedule to return to the lineup by the end of the month after tearing ligaments in his knee on November 11. - Raleigh News & Observer
There is a good chance that Bruins goaltender Andrew Raycroft will get the start for Tuesday night's game against the Thrashers. - Boston Herald
