Unfortunately, the 'Tips are leading the series against the Ams 2 games to one. boo.gif
This is a real grit vs skill matchup, and so far skill has the upper hand. At least Tri is putting up a fight...after being shut out in game one, they came back to take game two, and game three was decided in overtime. Wheat Scores Game Winner in OT

Here are where the other matchups stand:

Kootenay Ice/Kelowna Rockets 2:1

Vancouver Giants/Prince George Cougars: 2:1

Lethbridge Hurricanes/Calgary Hitmen: 2:1 (former TBird Yashar Farmanara scored two goals in the Lethbridge win last night.)

Medicine Hat Tigers/Swift Current Broncos: 3:0 (Broncos are fighting for their playoff lives in Swift tonight, it could be all over for them.)

Brandon Wheat Kings/Moose Jaw Warriors: 2:1

Saskatoon Blades/Regina Pats: 2:1

That is a bummer the Cowbellers didn't lose last night...well the Ams will have to beat them in Game 4....I'm shocked that Kootenay and Kelowna are playing so soon but I guess when you have Portland vs Seattle it kinda fits!!! I think Vancouver should come away with the Prince George series but I am impressed that PG has won a game. Other than that...Go Hawks!!! chi.png post-876-1130305232.gif post-876-1130305243.gif wavetowel2.gif

The Kelowna/Kootenay series is probably a great one to watch, those two teams are fairly evenly matched and consistantly do well in the playoffs. It's almost too bad they are facing each other in the first round.

I hope the Wheaties come back and win thier series after the treatment they got from the Warrior fans when they played in Moose Jaw. dry.gif

Well, It's all over for Swift Current...they managed to fight the Tigers into overtime, but just couldn't get the deal done. 3-2 win for Medicine Hat in the only sweep of the first round.

Everett Silvertips/Tri-city Americans: 3-1 (C'mon Ams...beat those Cowbellers!)

Kootenay Ice/Kelowna Rockets 2:2

Vancouver Giants/Prince George Cougars: 3:1

Lethbridge Hurricanes/Calgary Hitmen: 2:1 (Idle last night)

Medicine Hat Tigers/Swift Current Broncos: 4:0

Brandon Wheat Kings/Moose Jaw Warriors: 2:1 (Off last night)

Saskatoon Blades/Regina Pats: 3:1

The only updates from last night are:

Lethbridge Hurricanes/Calgary Hitmen: 2:2

Brandon Wheat Kings/Moose Jaw Warriors: 2:2

Both the series are now all tied up. This weekend sees do-or-die games for Prince George, Regina, and Tri-City. Go Ams! Go Cougs! I really have no opinion about the Pats and Blades, but why not go for the underdog? Go Pats! rolleyes.gif

Some things wre decided this weekend and we have more teams headed to round two.

Everett Silvertips/Tri-City Americans: 4-1

Kelowna Rockets/Kootenay Ice 4:2

Vancouver Giants/Prince George Cougars: 4:1

Calgary Hitmen/Lethbridge Hurricanes: 4:2

Medicine Hat Tigers/Swift Current Broncos: 4:0

Brandon Wheat Kings/Moose Jaw Warriors: 2:3

Saskatoon Blades/Regina Pats: 3:2 (Regina hangs on for another game, hooray for the underdog!)

In round two, Everett will be playing Kelowna (Go Kelowna!) and whoever wins the Seattle/Portland series will get beaten by, I mean play, Vancouver. Yikes! Calgary and Medicine Hat have to wait for the Eastern Division teams to finish up before they learn their opponents.

Update:

Vancouver Giants vs. Portland, 1:1

Kelowna Rockets vs. Everett Silvertips, 1:1

Medicine Hat Tigers vs. Saskatoon Blades, 0:2

Calgary Hitmen vs. Moose Jaw Warriors, 1:1

Medicine Hat and Saskatoon went to triple overtime in game 2, with Blades goaltender Anton Khudobin turning in an incredible 80-save performance in a losing cause in the third-longest playoff game in WHL history. ohmy.gif

Update:

Vancouver Giants vs. Portland, 1:1

Kelowna Rockets vs. Everett Silvertips, 1:2

Medicine Hat Tigers vs. Saskatoon Blades, 3:0

Calgary Hitmen vs. Moose Jaw Warriors, 1:2

Leland Irving had a great night, stopping all 41 shots he faced from the visiting Kelowna Rockets. Everett is doing much better in this series than I thought or hoped they would. Guess I'm not getting the sweep I wanted. Looks like stuffed Ogopogo has no power over Headless Lincoln!

Saskatoon is in danger of elimination already...Medicine Hat has not lost a game in these playoffs yet, going 7-0 in the first two rounds.

Giants and Portland play game 3 tonight.

Well, Medicine Hat has done it and is now undefeated in 8 games, they move on to round three. This team has just been incredible in the post season so far! ohmy.gif

Update:

Vancouver Giants vs. Portland, 2:1

Kelowna Rockets vs. Everett Silvertips, 1:3

Medicine Hat Tigers vs. Saskatoon Blades, 4:0

Calgary Hitmen vs. Moose Jaw Warriors, 2:2

Everett continues to ride the hot play of goaltender Leland Irving. The Rockets outshot the Silvertips 32-18 and were up by two golas at one point, but the Silvertips came back to win it 3-2. Kelowna fans are starting to complain about goaltender Derek Yeomans but this just sounds like sour grapes.

Justin Pogge turned in a 42-save performance for his second post-season shutout as the visiting Calgary Hitmen managed a 2-0 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors in Game 4 of their second-round series.

Vancouver Giants vs. Portland, 4:1

Kelowna Rockets vs. Everett Silvertips, 2:4

Medicine Hat Tigers vs. Saskatoon Blades, 4:0

Calgary Hitmen vs. Moose Jaw Warriors, 3:3

Sadly, the only US Division team left is Everett as they spanked Kelowna 6-2 tonight. Just sickening, really. puke.gif

Hitmen and Warriors knotted it up at three apeice to be the only matchup in round two to go to game seven.

I believe that Vancouver now plays Everett, and the Tigers are waiting for the Warriors/Hitmen to finish up. GO VANCOUVER!!
