Well, according to Babs in the paper the other day Lupul needed to develop his 'mean streak'..

QUOTE
"I think he has the potential to be a power forward in the National Hockey League," Babcock said about Lupul, who has gained 10 pounds since the start of the season. "He just needs to continue to develop his upper body and his mean streak. If he does that, he'll get room for his skills to shoot the puck and skate."

From lasts nights game and the game in Nashville Lupul looks like he took what Babs said to heart...and is 'trying' to develop that mean streak...

Good for him and hope he beefs up over the summer so he will become that power forward that we all want him to become...

:lolsg: I guess that's the secret. Find out what motivates each player or in Lupul's case, what makes him mad! biggrin.gif

This needs to be moved! We can't have discussions of players that used to be on the Ducks in the All Ducks Talk forum! After all, we have stupid rules that appear to be arbitrarily enforced! How have we overlooked this for so long?

Lupul wipes slate clean

When Joffrey Lupul first suited up for the Philadelphia Flyers, he didn't know what to expect.

Would the Philadelphia coaches see the player who scored 41 goals in his first two NHL seasons with the Anaheim Ducks, or the player who endured a dreadful campaign last year with the Edmonton Oilers?

Lupul didn't have to worry long.

Lupul was taken out by his own teammate tonight. Hatcher went to hit a Leaf player and instead hit Lupul. When they were helping him off the ice he looked by my eye concussed. They said he was complaining of dizziness. Lupul did not return to the game. eyebrow.gif

Lupul Plastered
Another Head Shot by the Flyers

The Flyers went head hunting again -- for what seems like the millionth time this season -- only this time it was a teammate (and former Duck) who paid the price as Lupul was knocked out by Darien Hatcher.

YouTube video.

Ha Ha we posted at the same time. I posted the still picture of the hit on the other Lupul thread. smile.gif

He looked concussed as they were helping him off the ice. It's a shame. He really has started to come in to his own and has been playing like the player we all thought he was going to be.

I didn't know that old and slow Hatcher could still move like that. wink.gif

Here's the still picture:

Yeah, unbelievable.

Hatcher has to know that his own teammate is right there and not make that hit. It was just plain stupid.

If Lupul didn't suffer a concussion on that play I would be shocked.

While the hit was bad, I think that if Lupul had his helmet on tighter the damage would have been less.

No doubt.

Still, that was an incredibly stupid play by Hatcher.

Wishing Loops a quick and complete recovery ...

QUOTE
Joffrey Lupul, tied for second in goals (16) on the Flyers, suffered a head injury at 17:53 of the first period when he was involved in a freak play at center ice.

On the play, teammate Derian Hatcher tried to hit Toronto's Alexander Steen, missed and drove hard into Lupul.

Lupul spun backward and his head hit the ice. He was helped off and later diagnosed with “dizziness.”
...
Lupul was in pretty good spirits after the game. He said he will be reevaluated today.

“Big Hatch got me, it was kind of a fluke play,” Lupul said.

“I banged my head on the ice and the big man rolled over me. I have a little bit of a headache but nothing too serious.”

Lupul said he's had a couple concussions in his NHL career (one in the AHL) but he's only missed a couple games because of them. He did miss a month from a concussion in the AHL during the 2004-05 lockout.

What a game they had ... crazy.gif

"It's creating some tingling sensations in his hands. The X-rays are negative on any real damage. But right now we have to give Joffrey some complete time off. He's going to take a couple weeks off from doing pretty much everything and then we'll evaluate him at that point two weeks from now."

Let's hope he returns soon...
