What to do with Giguere

The other bad thing about trading Giguere is the attachment that alot of fans seem to have to. This is probably insignificant but its worth noting. IMO this team isnt far off from being great. Trading Giguere may give us extra flexibility to get the team there this season while the FA market is still rich from the lockout. Again however...trusting Bryz to start 60 games and do well is risky. Its alway risky to trade away a proven NHL starter which Giguere is. If your like me and your confused you can join Duckette and I and go cry in the corner.
Quite the dilema

Bryz's start was not a vote of no confidence in Jiggy any more than it would be during the regular season. You play the goalie that can give you your best chance of winning. Right now, that's Bryz. Bryz has had his bad moments also and then Jiggy has stepped back up. That's why you have two goalies.
Carlyle said it was a gut feeling to go with Bryz. Personally, I think it was God knocking him on the head and saying "BRYZGALOV!!!!!!" Heaven knows I'd been praying for a sign and that Bryz would start. Prayers answered.
Do you move Giguere? I don't think we have the salary crunch like we did earlier in the season. We still have cush room due to other moves made throughout the season.
Will Jiggy warm back up? Yes. He's not done and finished at this point.
Will we keep Jiggy? Likely, because Bryz still needs some more experience and growth and we need to have a solid back up. I like McKee's prospects, but he's young one and won't be up for regular duty any time soon.
Jiggy has one more year left on contract and his is a large contract to move. If I were Burke, I'd wait and see on Jiggy for next season. If he is performing and earning his keep, you keep him. If he's playing so-so, you either try to trade him or let him go when the contract is up. Is he UFA or RFA? I know Burke will try to get something for him and if he's determined to dump him, he'll try to trade him and get something out of it.
Fan attachment means nothing to the guys in the business suits. Selanne going the first time. Carney. Business is business and will not factor into any decisions whatsoever.
At this point, I am more concerned about the team as a whole and moving out of the first round of the playoffs. I don't care if it's Bozo the clown in goal as long as he's stopping pucks from going in. (why do I just know there will be some photoshop smart alecks who'll have fun with that?)

Keep Giguere and see what he will bring to the team for next season. He's just batteling through a "Lower Body" Injury. I think seeing Bryzgalov in nets for game 7 wednsday aswell would not be surprising to me at all hes been amazing for them this far in the playoff run.
Brian Burke I have complete confidence in what he decides to do about Giguere. Look at the Fedorov trade everybody thought was stupid but Francois Beauchimen has been proving all of them wrong!! Brian Burke is going to do the right move and I agree with what his decision is!!
Burke should get executive of the year in my minds of what hes did to turn around this young, speedy hockey team!!
Go Duck Go!!!

The only way that Giguere can stay on this team is if Bryzgalov gets lit up in Game 7. If Ilya looks awful and gives up four or more goals, then I could see keeping Giguere. Otherwise, Bryzgalov will clearly be the starter for this team going forward. He's younger, cheaper and is putting up better numbers/results right now.
How could Brian Burke justify paying a back-up goalie more than the starter and/or $4 million? He can't. Giguere still has value around the league and his salary isn't so large that it would be prohibitive to getting a deal done. Plus, he's only got one year left on his contract so any team that gets him can let him walk after one season if they are not happy with his performance. I could see many teams being interested in Giguere - Toronto, Vancouver (bringing the Bertuzzi rumors back around), Tampa Bay, Atlanta, St. Louis, Boston, etc. There would be a market for Giguere and while we wouldn't get a lot in return most likely, we would get more flexibility under the salary cap going into the offseason.
I voted to trade Giguere and I hope that's what happens. I'm sure he does not want to be a back-up but that's what he is in Anaheim, like it or not. Bryzgalov is the future...let's just hope it isn't too late for Bryzgalov to get us into the second round.

I disagree, Look at Giguere who did that awesome run in the 2003 playoffs, Bryzgalov is doing the same thing right now. I would keep giguere and wait and see what comes up. if their is an awesome trasde for Giguere than take it, but if not than dont do it!! hes going through a injury that is costalley at this time. People are taking lots of notice because its playoffs! If it was regular season people wouldent care 2 cows and a donkey about his slump hes in. HES BASICALLY JUST IN A LOOSING SLUMP!! I WOULD KEEP HIM. HES GOING TO BE HERE FOR MANY YEARS TO COME!! AS BURKE SAID BEFORE ITS NOT GIGUERE WHOS THE PROBLEM ITS THE DEFENCMAN WE HAVE EXCEPT S.NIEDERMAYER AND BEAUCHMIN WHO ELSE DO WE HAVE THATS PRETTY GOOD?
KEEP GIGGY BRIAN!!!

LOL!!
never going to happen!!
WHY dont people get mad at Turco though!!! HES BEEN IN A SLUMP AND NOONE GIVES A CRAP ABOUT IT!!!
GIGGY IS IN A SLUMP AND HES BATTELING A INJURY!!
Hes going to be ready next year to prove himself as the number one goalie.
Plus he would be more consistent thinking that he maybe gone by the 07-08 season. With pressure on Gigueres back about if hes going to be traded and batteling for the number one seed I think Giggy will be out to prove himself next season.
Bryzgalov doesnt have alot of experience as a starting goalie anyways!!

She looked a Giguere and said "this one is too hot..."
and she looked at McKee and said "this one is too cold..."
Soon enough she looked at Bryz and said "this goalie is JUST RIGHT!!"

I'm not very lighthearted at moment. I popped my shoulder out of place, have a bad knee, have to move into an apartment for a month before moving to Florida AND have to deal with all this Jiggy crap, on top of leaving all of Duck-ness. It's hard for me to take things in good fun right now.

Duckette, I think hkyfan was just teasing but sometimes when you're in pain everything sounds negative. When I read that voting option I had to laugh too and I thought you would too.
Anyway, sorry about you being hurt. But just because you move to FLA it doesn't mean you have to leave Duck world. We have posters all the way from Russia and they are still fans. Cheer up.

Just one last word on this. Be careful what you wish for, you could be facing it in another teams goal next year -- on a hot streak.
