I've been hearing things about KC for years, and I finally have to ask: Is Kansas City really a good idea for hockey? It doesn't seem like a good market at all. I mean look at places like Colorado, Columbus, and New Jersey (who ranked 27th, 22nd, and 20th in average home game attendance for 2010 games, respectively). They are all places with rich hockey roots, and longtime fan bases, and even they are having trouble filling seats, as none of them even eclipsed 90% last season. The Islanders ranked 29th, with just over 78%, and they want to move them to Kansas City? KC is a place I envision to be like Nashville. Seems like it might be a good idea, but doesn't end up being the boom you'd hope for. While I'm not disagreeing with moving the Isles (they averaged over 14% higher attendance in road games than they did in home games), despite their long, respectable history in NY, I don't think KC is the right place. Give Canada a another team or two. They deserve it, need it, and have been crying for years (for good reason). Plus then we don't have to worry about losing the Coyotes.

Sorry if all the numbers got confusing. They're just interesting and they help make my point. If anyone needs to check my numbers for whatever, I went to
ESPN for that.
