Under terms of the agreement, Kaigorodov, 23, will be allowed to attend the Senators camp, which opens Sept. 14th at Scotiabank Place.

If Kaigorodov makes the Senators, he will sign a rookie deal worth $1.1 million (all figures US). Should he not make the club, Kaigorodov would be expected to play this season in Russia.

Senators going with blue-collar approach
QUOTE

The Ottawa Senators learned the hard way last year that it takes more than talent to win the Stanley Cup, so they're taking a different approach into the upcoming NHL season.

"I think some of our players found out that talent alone doesn't do it," Senators coach Bryan Murray said as the Senators went back to work Thursday morning for the first time since their second-round playoff exit last spring. "(This year) it's more of a blue-collar approach."

Three-year-old Elgin-Alexander Fraser died Saturday night, within hours of watching the Ottawa Senators reach the Stanley Cup finals.
The little boy spent his last hours at home, nestled between family and friends on a mattress on the floor in front of the television, doing what he loved - watching the Senators play hockey.

Awww that's heart wrenching sad.gif

That poor family.....

This is so sad. sad.gif My thoughts are with the family.

This story reminds me of Maddie, the little girl that died at the end of last year. I'm sure the Red Wings fans on the board have all heard about her.

As a father of 3, it totally pains me for anyone to go through this be it parent or child. Me thoughts go out to the family and hope they keep the memory of their child close to their hearts for eternity.

3 year old loved to watch hockey? I'm pretty sure at 3 he didn't really know what hockey was.

But, still sad.

Actually, he followed the Sens and the local Stittsville hockey teams religiously and attended most of Stittsville's games. He could be heard yelling out sayings such as "move the puck," "line change" and "off the glass" quite often.

Like I have nothing better to do than sit at work and cry.

Holding a positive thought for the family's healing.

Peace.

I read about this a few days ago. I couldn't help but shed a tear for them. crybaby.gif
Especially when Fischer promised the little guy that they would win the cup for him.
In a way, I almost want that to come true.

My sincerest condolences to the family.

That must be terrible, to lose a child at that age.

It is very, very sad. My prayers are with their family in this difficult time. But it doesn't make me want the Ducks to win the Cup any less either.
Winnipeg_Ducks

I just went over to the anaheim ducks site, and saw this. As a big time ducks fan and as this is the biggest time ever, after understanding that this is going on, how can we really steal the Cup away from Ottawa.

Just watch this, and maybe nobody will cheer for our team

Anaheim Ducks board had it up, and it's also on a canadian television station. If you don't have the station, then go to TSN.CA and you can watch it on there.

How can we win?

I assume that's the video about Elgin.....as much as i feel for the kid, the Ducks still should win biggrin.gif

Muckler's firing isn't just because of this year. Ottawa has been seen as an underachieving team since at least 02-03.

Senators make Paddock sixth coach in franchise history

John Paddock won't have to move far when he takes over as coach of the Ottawa Senators.

Paddock was promoted to the job of head coach Friday after two seasons as the Senators' assistant coach, taking over a team that made it to the Stanley Cup finals this spring.

Murray named Senators general manager

(06/18/2007)

Murray says he’ll miss coaching but he thinks he can play a big part in the future success of the club as general manager.

Murray plans to hire a new head coach to fill the position he’s leaving. He’ll meet with several top candidates over the next couple of weeks and hopes to have a new head coach in place soon. Murray will recommend that both assistant coaches – Greg Carvel and John Paddock – be kept on board and also plans to hire an assistant GM.

Long playoff run hurts Spezza's golf game, but he's not complaining

It's just that as the Ottawa Senators' superstar teed it up at an Ottawa-area golf course on Tuesday in the second annual Jason Spezza Celebrity Classic, he was bemoaning the fact his game isn't quite where he would like it to be after a season that only ended June 6.

Hummer of a first day

According to Mr. Emery, another driver cut in front of his Hummer as he exited the Queensway onto the Palladium Drive off-ramp.

Following a heated exchange, involving hand gestures and some choice words, the other driver went directly to Scotiabank Place to file a complaint about Mr. Emery's actions.

Mr. Emery says he has nothing to be sorry about and isn't going to apologize.

- Car Pool With Buddies. Take a page from the Anaheim Ducks. Brothers Scott and Rob Niedermayer drove to the rink last year with Chris Pronger and J.S. Gigučre, making it one of the most expensive carpools in professional sport. General manager Brian Burke would have had multiple coronaries if they ever rolled a car with that much talent under one roof, but we didn't hear of a single incident involving police or road rage. Maybe they kept Pronger in the passenger seat.

Comrie talks about his transition on Long Island ... and 'Milary'

Q: What happened to the Senators in the finals?

A: There were nine days off between the last game of the Eastern Conference finals and the start of the Cup finals. We kind of lost a bit of our rhythm and it snowballed. I don't think we ever felt comfortable in that series. Obviously, Anaheim has a tremendous team and they played us so well. They didn't give us a whole lot.

Q: I read your father is a season-ticket holder with the Anaheim Ducks. So what was that like for you during the finals?

A: Well, he grew up in Canada and he's a huge hockey fan. My dad, stepmom and two brothers live in Newport, Calif., so they want to see some hockey, so they have tickets. It actually made things easier for me. They had a box for each game, so it saved me some money, getting friends to the games.

Got a surprise in the mail today.

An Autographed Mike Fischer picture complete with a letter from the Ottawa Senators foundation for my donation to Rogers House. I continue to be impressed with the good works they do and the good job they do of running their team.

Although I do get a mean spirited kick out of it, because the last line of the letter says, "Congratulations on your team winning the Stanley Cup."

The picture is pretty cool and has a short "thank you" inscription, i'll probably frame it hang it up pretty soon next my some of my other hockey stuff I need to get reorganized.

And it's very good of you to be donating to such a worthy cause. worshippy.gif

When I filled out my donation, I mentioned that despite my being a Ducks fan, I really appreciate and respect the work the Senators do for the kids up there in Ottawa. Plus I had to keep from bawling when I told them I had heard about their efforts because of the story of Elgin Fraser.
