Did anyone else see Vlad's hit off Rafael Soriano today? My heart nearly leaped out my chest. Vlad hit a line drive into the side of Soriano's head. They ended up taking him to the hospital. :/

ya i watched the game and i was like damn
Yeah, Soscia was trying to console Vlad after the hit in the dugout. Billy Wagner and Matt Clement come to mind when I see something like that. Clement's never been the same, and Wagner still flinches sometimes. It's really devastating.

Ouch. The thing with Soriano's hit though was it bounced off his head into foul territory. But didn't land for about 60-70 ft.
Yeah, Rem-Dawg said something like when these players (Especially guys like Valdimir Guerrero and Carl Crawford) hit those balls, they come off of the bat at about 120-135 MPH. That's about 200 KPH for you Europeans. That's one hell of a hit off the head. That's like having the world's strongest man hit you in the head with a sledgehammer.
Wow that's really scary.
My step-dad just told me that Soriano's in the ICU.
I can't even imagine how much that'd hurt.

And yes I saw that line drive. My heart stopped. That's really horrible for Soriano. He couldn't even get his glove up in time. Man, that was bad. And Vlad...I feel sorry for him too.

Yep, especially if it hits your temple. My six grade math teacher's brother got punched in the temple over a dispute about a bastketball game and had a siezure, and didn't know if he'd live. He's ok now, but imagine a ball going atleast 100 MPH.
