Call me an idiot or whatnot but I was talking to a few people today and they all seemed to think Kariya will meet or has met with the Kings. They are kings fans I regularly hang out with who usually know what they are talking about, anyways they said he may sign with them.
the consensus is that he will either sign with the Kings or Canucks, it will be a PR nightmare for the Ducks if he does sign with the Kings because then all of those Kariya fan first duck fan second fans will be going into staples. It would also piss me off like no other just because it's the Kings and that he was once our franchise player.

 Kariya on the Kings? First bad game and the fans would be on the attack!! I don't see Kariya going there. I think things were rough enough for him in Colorado.
For his own sake, I hope he goes somewhere where he will get treated right.

kings suck
kariya sucks
kings + kariya = bigger sucks
kariya showed he is injury prone even more so than when he was with Anaheim ... so if he does join the kings, does that guarantee him at least a concussion? ... i dont like him or anything he stands for as a player ... we shouldnt even call him Mr. Loyalty as a joke anymore because he seems to view loyalty as a joke more than we all do ... oh well ... i know the ducks have survived without him already ... even if he did join the kings, i dont think it would matter all that much

it was reported eariler in the week that the kings were talking to karyia, demtria, zhamnov and murray. probally trying to land 1 of them. i wouldnt mind karyia, at 3-4 mil a year, but i wouldnt want him on the kings at his demands right now (6 mil a year) putting what he did behind you guys, wouldnt you him on a line with feds? that would be a pretty dominate line

:beat: Kariya returning would be one of the biggest mistakes I think, I'm sure there is still a pretty large Kariya fan base with the ducks, but I think the larger portion of the fans would have a hard time with his return and there are the players to consider, he sort of blew them off as well.
I just hope he finds a good fit for himself, just not here. It would be one more distraction we don't really need!!! :bye:

Kariya to Kings -
pros - already has house in OC, so short drive up the freeway. Would really piss off Ducks fans.
cons - no chance in hell of ever getting a Stanley Cup.
Because of the cons, he is not going to sign with the Kings. He allegedly left for the Cup, and going to the Kings is not going to achieve that goal.

You want 'im?

You can have 'im.
I don't believe Kariya will ever wear the Duck crest again.
He is NOT a Mighty Duck.
He relenquished any claim to such when he stabbed the organization, his teammates and, most of all, the fans in the back.
You could say, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on ME!"
If management were foolish enough to re-sign him ...

once again the naive kings fans fall for it hook, line, and sinker...ever since dave taylor took over as gm, theres always been stories about him talking to such and such, and so and so. the kings feed their fans bs, by consistently appearing to be doing something major, but in the long run, doing nothing at all. theres always been stories about taylor talking to jagr, bure, selanne, etc. nothing comes of it. and by saying he is talking to kariya, and demitra, doesnt mean crap. if i talk to catherine zeta jones, does that mean shes coming home with me? nada. wake up, kings fans, dont get all excited over something that wont pan thru, as usual.

thunder you are hilarious! are you saying that teams like the leafs, wings, avs, thrashers, flyers, hawks etc all do the same thing? LA in mentioned in rumors not because of kings managment saying it, but because hockey writers see an team in a large market with some money, so the equate Free agents with the kings. just like whenever Free agents come around there is always a rumor that they are going to the wings or avs or leafs or rangers etc. And about the no change of winning a cup, i am sure many people were saying the same thing about the ducks 2 summers ago and about the flames last summer.

The people I talked to aren't people that read something and say it, it's very credible information. They are fairly certain the two parties have already met, the Kings are very active in talking to people. Now the Ducks may end up talking to him, Disney wouldn't mind paying for him because they believe he's more marketable than Fedorov.
If I had to guess i'd say theres an 80% chance Kariya ends up on the kings.

the disney people think hes more marketable than fedorov????????
fedorov = one of the greatest russian players ever, and slowly becoming one of the best foreign players ever too
kariya = great team player for 9 years, backstabber for 1+ and counting, bandwagoner with mrs. salami, wash up/ injury prone this past year ... but mostly known for walkin out on the ducks
how can kariya be more marketable than feds? ... they are literally in 2 different leagues
Rucchin20
Jul 10 2004, 09:15 PM
There is no putting it behind, as he did what he did, and any return to the Ducks would be counter productive on every level. It would severely hurt the team, and as such, even if he was FREE we should NEVER have him w/ the Mighty Ducks again.

Since when have the Kings stepped back from fanning the flames of Ducks hatred?
I was expecting this topic to come up at some point over the off-season, and if he signs with them I would not be in the least bit shocked.
The way I see it, is very convenient for me. I would have all my Hockey hatred combined into a neat little package.

Also, just becasue the Kings "talk" to the man in the moon, doesn't mean it is a rumour he is going there. Of course, they are "talking" to the available UFA's. Probably almost ALL of the teams are. Nah, I think this is not going to happen. I agree with MrsBEvo, if PK left to win a Cup, he certainly isn't gonna go to LA. Heck, he may decide to stay in COLO.

Yes. They offered to qualify him, he said no. Rumour is he is asking around 6 mil per season. however, if no team takes him, I think he might stay with COLO. They could probably spend 3-4 mil and not upset their happy home life. Although.....Lizzie does NOT like players to demand certain monies. He tends to NOT re-sign any player who does that. But is Forsberg does not play, they may sign another guy or two. Also, the bandwagoner pk may think, hey, they hired a qualified coach, maybe this is my best chance to win the Cup. We shall see. I hope he goes to NJ, I can't stand them already, so Iwon't have to change any feelings there. heheheheheeheheh
