Now that the Ducks are out of the playoffs, who do you think will win the Stanley Cup this year?

Y'all are going to hate me, but I don't want SJ to lose now. I'd rather the Cup went to SJ and stay in California than go to Dallas or Detroit. But no matter what, I think the Cup winner is coming out of the West.

My cup prediction is Penguins. They are too good.

SJ's goaltending is better. Plus there's no way to know how "good" they are until they play the WC winner.

screw SJ....hate those fools. i'd much rather see an east team win although the east is soft.

Gee GS35, I would find it very difficult to hate you. But I really don't want to see SJ win it all. I'd rather see Detroit, sorry. But that isn't going to happen either. What about the Rangers? They might have a chance. Avery on the Cup??? The horror.

dont jump on me for this but IMO dallas is winning the cup this year. i thought that the winner of this series was going to go on and win the cup...dallas=detroit on steriods

We're going way OT here, but Philadelphia has huge depth on offense. They had like five 20+ goal scorers. If Biron can steal a few... who knows.

Well, I wouldn't be terribly sad if Calgary won that series. Outside of when SJ plays us, I don't hate them all that much. Plus going to their playoff games would be doable ('cause I'm a hockey junkie). I'd rather see a new Cup winner rather than a team that has already won it. (And seeing all the hand-wringing and emotional writhing going on in Detroit when they bow out is just too much fun. )

I'm gonna go with Les Canadiens. I think they're the best team in the East, I think whoever comes out of the West will be totally beaten up, and I think the magic of Montreal (rookie goaltender in the playoffs plus always having won at least one Stanley Cup in every decade since their inception) will win out. I say they play Dallas in the finals and win in 7.

I think it's going to be Detroit, though I wouldn't mind being wrong. If not them, the Sharks. I'd really like a see a team that's never won it take the Cup though.

If I knew I'd be a rich man but I'm rooting for the Bruins. As long as it's not the Sharks (sorry, but I want to remain the only California team to have won the Cup), Dallas (I hate 'em even though they beat us fair and square) or New York (Avery sucks!)

I hate the Stars too. Then again I'd probably hate any team we play.

Pittsburgh or Boston I would like to win the Cup, mainly because its been ages since they did. Don't want San Jose to win as I like the fact we are the only CA team to win the Cup!

At this point I don't care, as long as it's not Dallas, San Jose, or Detroit. (But that is subject to change when my bitterness of the Ducks loss goes away)

For the East. I'd like the Capitals. I love Ovechkin.

My grandpa grew up on the upper east side of manhattan and grew up on the Rangers. He became a Ducks fan when they were created out here. But he still has a soft spot for the Rangers.

Montreal will win, and then it will be part of their 100th anniversary celebration.
The Stanley Cup, Draft, and All-Star Game, now that is an interesting 100th anniversary.

well i think who ever comes out of the west is going to win.

I have been very busy lately so I haven't been posting on this board much.

Now that the Ducks are out... I am putting all my hopes on the Penguins.

As some of you know, I named my Daughter after Sidney Crosby and even though some of you dislike him for various reasons, he is amazing to watch. He has exceeded expectations and makes everyone around him better.

I have even found myself comparing other players on the Pens team to our Ducks. I am now a huge fan of Staal, Malone, Gonchar, Ruutu, Laraque, Kennedy, Fleury, Conklin, Whitney, and of course Malkin..

This team is fun to watch, easy to cheer for, and has the firepower to get to the finals.

I suggest some of you watch them if you get a chance!

Pens v Sharks

I'm with Todrick on this one, although Fleury will have to keep up his .955 Sv% to do it or I think the Sharks big bodies with speed might prevail.

I must say that the best thing for the NHL would be for at least one of the Original Six to make the Finals and take it to seven games. Something along the lines of DETvsPITT or SJSvsNYR. The very best thing for the league would probably be an all Orig.6 like DETvsNYR or MTL. I don't mean to diss the Bruins, but I highly doubt their chances.

i think calgary will beat the sharks in game 7....heres what i see in the west
det vs. col=det
dal vs. cal =dal
dallas will win in 6 and then take the cup in 6 againts the rangers

well regardless... Pens to the finals...

and i think we are likely to see that given a complete overkill when it comes to offensive talent(what the sens lacked) an Eastern team can beat a physical western team.

my take:
Det v Col = Det in 6
Dal v Sjs = Sjs in 5

Sjs v Det = Sjs Sjs in 6

and the Pens steamroll the east, then the Sharks in 6

In the west, the next round will be either Detroit - Calgary, Dallas - Colorado or Detroit -Colorado and Dallas - San Jose. I think Calgary would beat up Detroit quite nicely. Colorado has played them quite a bit as well. My youngest was born on game one of their playoff series in 1997. Colorado has also been a thorn in Dallas' side over the years.

In the East, it would be to the Penguins advantage to meet an equally rested Rangers team. Otherwise there might be a little rust. Boston has been surprising and playing with desperation. Not sure who will prevail in the Washington/Philly series. Can't stand Sean Avery and the thought of him having his name on the Cup next to the Ducks makes me want to puke and take a shower. Ewwwwwww.

It just won't be fun watching because it won't be the Ducks.

The Pens winning would be incredibly memorable and would also be fantastic for the sport.

but wouldn't it be better for the wings to win and me be happy? i think so. hahahahahah. like i said before...who ever is coming out of the west will win the cup. i don't see anyone from the east not even everyones baby pens beating anyone from the west.

I do agree with that as well, my husband has said it for awhile, and I still believe it to be true.

even tho calg maybe more aggresive then Det,they have a ton of skill and Osgood has stepped up. I see either Det or SJ coming out of the West.

i don't know if i would be mad or happy if the sharks won the Stanley cup.

mad, that the sharks have it or happy that the cup stays in California one more year...even if it isn't us and if we have a good playoff run next year we maybe might be able to keep it in cali. for another year after that.

I'm dropping the Rangers because the thought of Sean Avery on the Cup and I thought it over and I just like the Habs a little more

I hope its not the Penguins or Rangers so the cup champion isn't opening the season in Europe for a second straight season Also I don'want San Jose because of the Nocal/Socal thing. If the Sharks do win the the cup Duck fans might fell like Ranger fans after the Devils won it all in '95.

I don't care as long as Dallas, SJ, or the Pens don't win I am content. I would be happy with the Habs winning.

I want to say the Sharks in the next round, and then they will get beat up by detriot in the WC finals...and if they advance that i am thinking they will lose to the habs. I am really rooting for a eastern team to win since i don't like 3/4 of the western teams still in the playoffs

NYR over Pitts 6 but i can see a possible gm 7

I hope the stars somehow win over the sharks, even though i would make the same prediction about that series, i just don't want the sharks to win the cup, because i like the fact that we are the first and ONLY stanley cup in Cali, for me us winning the cup kind of raised my rivalry hatred against them and also that would make me kind of a bandwagon fan....but the i could say i don't want the stars to win just because we got eliminated by them.

a habs cup win will make they 100th anniversary more special.

I just hate how Dallas or SJ will be in the Conference Final. That sucks. It's inevitable.

i took me a while to realize that...so not matter what...most of us (if you don't want SJ or DAL),
will be rooting for who ever gets out of the Avs-Wings series...and we all can kind of predict who might win.
that is why i am going for a eastern team, even though the west is tougher.
