Meh. The logo's not the worst thing I've ever seen, and the name... to say the least, is an interesting choice.
Still better than the Icehogs... And at least they didn't end up choosing a 'corny' name (no pun intended).

Well, there is the Dusters, the Express, and the Brass are all pretty bad names and that's only ECHL and AHL names.

How embarassing... There was a pool in the official website, whether visitors like the new name and logo or not. About 60% selected the most negative answer... So quickly they they started a new pool: What is your favorite part about the new logo?
What surprises me the most is that did they, marketing professionals, really expect a warmer welcome??

I understand the whole Iowa-farming-midwest-home spun element. There are many ways in which to depict that, some of which have already been posted here. Even the pig/pork/hog concept could be made acceptable. I'm sure pigs are mean and fierce and command respect.
But the only time I associate pigs with chops is when they're served to me in a restaurant! By that time I don't fear the pig because it's DEAD and I'm going to eat it!!!
This is one of the worst names ever for a sports' team, and I'd like to hear arguments to the contrary.

Apparently, listening to what the fans want is out of the question. The idea is to create something inventive coupled with a cool logo that will sell jerseys, not overextend yourselves in order to tie in to the F***ING PORK INDUSTRY!
I mean, you call the team the "Chops" and then put an agressive pig on the logo, but the reason that pig is screaming is because he's apparently about to be carved up into delicious pork chops! SON OF A *****
Are fans supposed to do a modified version of the Braves' "Tomahawk Chop"?
I reallllllllllllly wanted this team to step up and put out a great looking product so that I could spend some money on gear. Now it's going to be tough to want to do that.

I really have to say that I'm sorry for those guys who are going to have to wear that sweater.
This has been the running joke among AHL circles for the last 24hrs and it doesn't seem to be letting up. If the local fan base want to accept the name then great, but if they have any doubt, they need to get on the ownership group....NOW!!!
A similar incident happened locally and the fan base revolted the name and logo.
When Manchester, NH got the Blue Jays AA team, they were originally called the New Hampshire Primaries -- logo was a Donkey and Elephant separated by Uncle Sam -- and it didn't go over well at all. They eventually had to change the name to the NH Fisher Cats.
