Slava Kozlov’s franchise record for consecutive games played ended on Saturday. Head coach John Anderson made Kozlov a healthy scratch against Tampa Bay. Defenceman Christoph Schubert will miss 2-4 weeks with a lower-body injury, according to Anderson. - Atlanta Journal Constitution

Marc Savard (knee) skated on his own yesterday morning at TD Garden. He missed his seventh straight game yesterday and will not play today against the Hurricanes. Savard’s plan is to return on Friday against the Sabres. Marco Sturm (leg), Steve Begin (undisclosed), and Byron Bitz (undisclosed) didn’t play and will be unavailable today. Goalie Manny Legace, who gave starter Cam Ward a rest after 17 straight starts, lasted just 6:36 before leaving with an eye injury related to a recent bout with conjunctivitis. Legace had stopped six of seven shots and Ward finished with 20 saves. - News Observer

Tomas Holmstrom, out of the lineup since suffering a hairline fracture in his foot Jan. 6, said Saturday morning that he had skated the past three days and was hoping to return to the lineup either Friday or next Sunday. Defenceman Dennis Seidenberg left the game after taking a puck to the mouth but did return after he had his upper lip rearranged and stitched together in the team's locker room. The Panthers lost centre Steven Reinprecht to injury in the third after he took a shot off the skate. Pete DeBoer didn't have an update on Reinprecht's condition. - Miami Herald

Defenceman Ryan Parent will miss six weeks after undergoing back surgery tomorrow. Parent will have surgery to remove a disk fragment from his lumbar spine, GM Paul Holmgren said. The surgery is said to be "minimally invasive." - Philadelphia Inquirer

Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury is a good bet to play this afternoon in Philadelphia. Fleury, out of action since breaking a finger Jan. 14 in Edmonton, faced some shots during practice Saturday at Mellon Arena and looked comfortable. "He took a lot of shots yesterday and a full practice today," Dan Bylsma said. "So I would say he's ready to start." Pascal Dupuis returned to practice and pronounced himself ready to play today. He missed Thursday's game against Washington after suffering an eye injury late in Tuesday's victory over the Islanders. With David Backes missing his second straight game Saturday, Blues coach Davis Payne moved another winger to center. Defenceman Carlo Colaiacovo also missed Saturday's game after leaving early from Thursday's game in Ottawa. Rookie defenceman Victor Hedman returned to the lineup Saturday night after being a healthy scratch. He said taking a game off to watch from the press box was useful. Goaltender Mike Smith, out since suffering a strained neck Jan. 12 against the Capitals, put in another hard workout Saturday morning and said he's focused on getting back "sooner rather than later."
