The Bruins announced in a release that defenseman Mark Stuart had surgery on the pinkie on his right hand and is expected to miss four weeks, probably not returning until after the Olympic break. Coach Claude Julien said the injury was a result of Stuart’s fight with Wayne Simmonds in the Bruins’ 3-2 shootout loss to the Kings Saturday night. - Boston Herald

Ales Kotalik could not attend practice because he was having travel issues. He will be en route to Calgary at some point. - TSN

Chad LaRose was injured during Saturday's game against the Chicago Blackhawks and did not accompany the team on its four-game road trip. LaRose has an upper-body injury, coach Paul Maurice said. - News Observer

Marek Svatos likely will return to the lineup tonight after missing six games with a chest injury. Milan Hejduk, who had arthroscopic knee surgery Jan. 20, skated briefly before practice but is at least a week from returning. Coach Joe Sacco wouldn't say whether John-Michael Liles would play tonight. Liles was a healthy scratch Sunday against the Rangers. - Denver Post

Andreas Lilja has been assigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins on long-term injured-reserve conditioning loan. Lilja has not played since suffering a concussion while fighting Nashville's Shea Weber last Feb. 28. - Detroit Free Press

Winger Michal Repik was a healthy scratch after getting less than six minutes of ice time Sunday. Nick Tarnasky, who had been scratched eight of the past nine games, replaced Repik in the lineup. - Miami Herald

Marcel Goc was back at practice Monday and is expected to return from a three-game injury absence when Nashville plays Phoenix tonight. Goc was centering Ryan Jones and Jordin Tootoo on Monday, but coach Barry Trotz said Goc might center J.P. Dumont and Patric Hornqvist, with Cal O'Reilly centering Jones and Tootoo. - Nashville Tennessean

Patrik Elias, who suffered a concussion when he was knocked unconscious by a hit from Ryan Wilson in Colorado Jan. 16, is skating and should rejoin the Devils soon for practice. Coach Davis Payne said Monday that forwards Alex Steen and B.J. Crombeen, who did not participate in the optional practice Monday, have lower-body injuries. Both are listed as day-to-day. I've obviously never been much of a Phaneuf fan, but damn, he looks absolutely great for them.

Watching Phaneuf play makes me want to at Whitney... Could we ever use a defenseman like him.

They don't miss a beat even when they're talking about prospects or other facets of the game. It's fun and exciting to listen to, adding so much to the game.

Nice to see both goalies get shutouts! Leafs actually played a really solid defensive game in front of Giggy, which is kind of a shock!
