Goaltender Kari Lehtonen can remain at AHL Chicago through Saturday while on a two-week conditioning assignment. Zdeno Chara has a dislocated pinkie finger. He acknowledged that he will most likely require surgery to fix the injury and will do so in the offseason. Chara has not missed any time but he's been playing with a splint around the pinkie, which has been taped to his ring finger. - Boston Herald

The Sabres will face the Senators without Patrick Kaleta. The right winger suffered a bruised foot. "It looks like he's going to miss some time," Lindy Ruff said. "Nothing showed up on X-rays, but he’s going to have a tough time walking on it, so he’s going to miss some time. - Buffalo News

Joel Quenneville said he would decide after Wednesday's morning skate how much and with whom Dave Bolland would play against the Blues. With veteran winger Andrew Ladd leaving Tuesday's practice early with a lower-body injury that isn't expected to keep him out of Wednesday's game, there was no indication who would sit or be shifted with Bolland's return. Avalanche coach Joe Sacco said 'not to rule it out' Tuesday when asked if veteran winger Milan Hejduk could return before the Olympic break. Later in the day, however, it had been ruled out. Lilja hasn't played since suffering a concussion last Feb. 28. Niklas Kronwall left early Tuesday after hurting an ankle and tweaking his left knee. The Predators lost defenceman Cody Franson to an early injury Tuesday. His left arm was in a sling after the game against Phoenix Coach Barry Trotz said he was uncertain about how long the injury would keep Franson out of the lineup. Cal O’Reilly will be on the Predators’ roster for the remainder of the season. O’Reilly played his 10th game of the season on a non-emergency recall basis Tuesday.
