atl.gif Defenceman Mark Popovic returned to the Thrashers lineup Tuesday night after missing the past 27 games with a broken foot. Forward Slava Kozlov was a healthy scratch for the fifth straight game. Goaltender Kari Lehtonen can remain at AHL Chicago through Saturday while on a two-week conditioning assignment. Christoph Schubert, on injured reserve with a knee injury, should be skating within the next week. He has missed the past eight games. - Atlanta Journal Constitution

bos.png Zdeno Chara has a dislocated pinkie finger. He acknowledged that he will most likely require surgery to fix the injury and will do so in the offseason. Chara has not missed any time but he's been playing with a splint around the pinkie, which has been taped to his ring finger. - Boston Herald

buff.png The Sabres will face the Senators without Patrick Kaleta. The right winger suffered a bruised foot. "It looks like he's going to miss some time," Lindy Ruff said. "Nothing showed up on X-rays, but he’s going to have a tough time walking on it, so he’s going to miss some time. - Buffalo News

chi.png Joel Quenneville said he would decide after Wednesday's morning skate how much and with whom Dave Bolland would play against the Blues. With veteran winger Andrew Ladd leaving Tuesday's practice early with a lower-body injury that isn't expected to keep him out of Wednesday's game, there was no indication who would sit or be shifted with Bolland's return. Also on the ice Tuesday was forward Adam Burish, who is recovering from knee surgery during the preseason and is targeting a return a week or two after the upcoming Olympic break. - Chicago Tribune

col.png Avalanche coach Joe Sacco said 'not to rule it out' Tuesday when asked if veteran winger Milan Hejduk could return before the Olympic break. Later in the day, however, it had been ruled out. After consulting with Hejduk, it was decided the Avs would err on the side of caution and wait until the resumption of play, March 1, to get him back in the lineup. - Denver Post

dal.png Coach Marc Crawford said Marty Turco will get the start in goal Thursday at Columbus. - Dallas Morning News

det.png Defenceman Jonathan Ericsson was a healthy scratch. Andreas Lilja bused from Grand Rapids to Rockford, Ill., where tonight he will play his first game this season. Lilja hasn't played since suffering a concussion last Feb. 28. Niklas Kronwall left early Tuesday after hurting an ankle and tweaking his left knee. He's only five games into a comeback after being out 30 games because of a sprained left MCL. Kronwall won’t play tonight at Anaheim. - Detroit Free Press

Backstrom, because of a back injury and stomach flu, has practiced one day since Jan. 23. With Derek Boogaard (hamstring) injured, coach Todd Richards dressed James Sheppard. - Star Tribune

mon.png Jaroslav Spacek who has been out with an upper body injury will travel with the team to Boston on Wedensday afternoon. Paul Mara skated with the team for the first time since suffering an upper body injury on Jan. 22 and will also travel with the club. - TSN

nsh.png The Predators lost defenceman Cody Franson to an early injury Tuesday. His left arm was in a sling after the game against Phoenix Coach Barry Trotz said he was uncertain about how long the injury would keep Franson out of the lineup. Cal O’Reilly will be on the Predators’ roster for the remainder of the season. O’Reilly played his 10th game of the season on a non-emergency recall basis Tuesday. Marcel Goc returned to the lineup after having missed the previous three games with an upper body injury. - Nashville Tennessean

phi.png Ray Emery took Tuesday off and left Michael Leighton and Brian Boucher to split the practice workload. Emery, who has started eight straight games since returning from abdominal surgery on Jan. 17, didn't take part in Monday’s morning skate in Calgary, either. - Philadelphia Inquirer

pitt.png The Penguins re-assigned forwards Nick Johnson and Mark Letestu to their AHL affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Tuesday. The Penguins, who are within $1 million of the NHL salary cap, do not play until Saturday at Montreal. - Tribune Review
