Good idea DK! My husband will be wearing his Blackhawk jersey--or at least I'll make a little suggestion to him that that might be a good idea biggrin.gif

And go Los Tiburones!

Here's the long-awaited wink.gif Updates and Notes from TSN:

Late Breaking Updates and Notes for Wednesday, April 5

Forward Steve Sullivan (groin) and goaltender Tomas Vokoun (back) accompanied Nashville to Chicago, but they are unlikely to play tonight. They could return tomorrow in St. Louis. - Tennessean

Injured Avalanche forward Alex Tanguay skated before practice but probably won't play until next week at the earliest. Tanguay sustained a sprained right knee during a March 19 game against the Sharks, and the original prognosis was for him to miss two to four weeks. - Rocky Mountain News

Joe Sakic has recorded eight goals and 12 assists during a 10-game points streak. He needs one goal for 573 in his career to tie Mike Bossy for 17th place on the all-time list. - Rocky Mountain News

Luc Robitaille was a healthy scratch Tuesday night for the second consecutive game, and Kings coach John Torchetti gave no indication that, with five more games left in the season, Robitaille will return. - L.A. Daily News

Seven times in franchise before this season, the Kings had made a coaching change during the season, and only one interim coach finished with a winning record, Rogie Vachon at 3-2-2 in 1994-95. Before Torchetti, the seven interim coaches had a combined record of 85-158-40. - L.A. Daily News

Jaromir Jagr had 12 shots on goal to bring his season total to 345, breaking Phil Esposito's franchise record. His assist on Michael Nylander's first period goal gave him points in 12 straight games. - New York Daily News

Petr Nedved is undergoing "aggressive rehab" on his sore right groin in Philadelphia. "He's really day-to-day, and he's gone back for more aggressive rehab, but he's a potential player on the weekend," Hitchcock said. Nedved only played the first period against New Jersey on Saturday. He has been suffering from a recurring sore groin most of the season. - Philadelphia Daily News

Coyotes left wing Oleg Kvasha will miss the final seven games of the season because of a knee injury. Kvasha damaged a medial collateral ligament in the first period of Monday's 7-1 defeat to Edmonton. General Manager Mike Barnett said Kvasha will not need surgery, but that the rehabilitation time for such an injury is at least two weeks. - Arizona Republic

dribble.gif How stupid would the Kings feel after having been in the playoffs for months on end if another Pacific Division team that has been a bottom-dweller for most of the season gets in? dribble.gif dribble.gif dribble.gif

Interesting how Edmonton, SJ and a long shot Kings are battling for the chance to get the Red Wings in the first round. Nashville is looking very human these days with 6 losses in 7 games and with the way we are playing they can't be looking forward to that matchup. Let's get the home ice guys, you can do it.

BTW how does the second round work out in terms of pairings. (I hope Jennifer doesn't read this, as its borderline tickling the karma police)

Just tell the karma officer that this is purely an educational exercise. You are furthering your knowledge of playoff history. biggrin.gif

QUOTE
1998-99 - The NHL's clubs were re-aligned into two conferences each consisting of three divisions. The number of teams qualifying for the Stanley Cup Playoffs remained unchanged at 16.

First-round playoff berths were awarded to the first-place team in each division as well as to the next five best teams based on regular-season point totals in each conference. The three division winners in each conference were seeded first through third for the playoffs and the next five best teams, in order of points, were seeded fourth through eighth. In each conference, the team seeded #1 played #8; #2 vs. #7; #3 vs. #6; and #4 vs. #5 in the quarterfinal round. Home-ice in the Conference Quarterfinals was granted to those teams seeded first through fourth in each conference.

In the Conference Semifinals and Conference Finals, teams were re-seeded according to the same criteria as the Conference Quarterfinals. Higher seeded teams gained home-ice advantage.

Home-ice advantage for the Stanley Cup Finals to be determined by points.

All series remain best-of-seven.

QUOTE
The Maple Leafs still have a shot to make the Eastern Conference playoffs. The
New York Islanders do not. Darcy Tucker ended a 16-game scoring drought with two goals, and Alexei Ponikarovsky snapped a tie with 2:02 remaining to give Toronto a 3-2 victory over the Islanders and move the Maple Leafs within six points of Tampa Bay for eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

"We're going to keep fighting and give it our best shot," Tucker said.
